Is 300 USD for a night at a hotel room okay?
Just asking for...reasons.
shareNo, unless it's for a really special occasion. You should be able to get under 100 for a lot of places and between 1 and 2 for most others. If it's your wedding night, or you're staying at the nicest place in town to celebrate something, go for it, otherwise save on the room and spend the rest on other things, like food.
shareSeriously!?
shareCompletely depends on the location, type of hotel and the day of the week.
shareI'm going to suggest you go to a hostel with a dormitory and work your way up.
Worked for me!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
The hotel in question is Hotel Zachary near Wrigley Field in Chicago. But I guess it's not a good idea based on the responses everyone gave....

That's a brand new joint too. By comparison, the downtown youth hostel in Chicago has shared rooms from $34 and private rooms (still sharing bathroom though) from $119. A few years back, you could get motel rooms about 20-30 minutes from downtown for around $60. Hotel Zachary would be much nicer though, I'm sure.
shareNo way , Jose - at least , for me anyway - but I am a frugal person , though. Sort of the Fred MacMurray type.
Now , of course , if the maid gives me the " special " and it's a real classy joint with all the amenities , it is another story.
I assume we are talking about a proper hotel, nothing hinky, a bit of class and a good bar downstairs with room service...a vacation kind of thing
That price seems normal in the bigger US cities for a good room in the middle of the tourist sights
Probably about right for Boston but maybe a bit low for New York City (specifically Manhatten which is ridiculously expensive)
