reply

Why Conan the Barbarian is NOT on this list is beyond me, but it is absolutely my favorite currently and for the last few years

reply

No love for Back to the Future?

reply

I do love them, only so many spots on the list. I already pushed it to 122. The first one is so great but I've always had a soft spot for number 2. Part III it takes me being in the right mood but I love it too

reply

I also love Shattered Glass.

reply

Anybody who thinks Hayden Christiansen sucks has never seen that movie. Also I love Peter Sarsgard and Chloe Sevigny in everything, and Melanie Lynskey is also great

reply

Shattered Glass was underrated

reply

Im a reasonable fan of the trilogy. Overall of 7.5/10

reply

I still need to see that one.

reply

Nice list.

We have a few in common, so that's cool.

Some of yours are close contenders (ex: american beauty, road to perdition)

Glad to see BAsketball Diaries on your list

reply

Road to Perdition is so good, I could watch it daily (if there weren't so many unseen things to watch.) I was surprised to see Carlito's Way on your list. I can't like that no matter how hard I try.

reply

Hey I turned 300! Didn't notice until it was done and gone

reply

lol congrats Pete

reply

Yeah!

reply

It'S a generally loved movie I think. I saw it only once and it stayed with me.

'' Oh, you up against me now, motherfuckers! I'm gonna blow your fuckin' brains out! You think you're big time? You gonna fuckin' die big time! You ready? HERE COMES THE PAIN!''

reply

I feel like that's Pacino's worst accent work. He's supposed to be Puerto Rican but he recycled his Southern drawl from Scent of a Woman. I can't get past it.

reply

DAAAAMN! That is one impressive list, Stone.

😎

reply

Right? right!?

reply

I haven't thought about Spun in a while. That's a great movie. I had a DVD at one point and a former roommate became suspiciously obsessed with it and stole it. I think he's definitely a tweaker, or was, but I remember that movie fondly.

reply

I saw it at least 3 times. Enjoyed it each time.

reply

Trading Places.

That is all.

reply

Yeah, yeah, we know.

Although Coming to America is twice as funny and twice as good.

reply

I just noticed that you gave out of lot of 10s there, Stone. Interestingly enough, you left out the only film I've ever given
a 10: 2001: A Space Odyssey. That is the greatest film of all time, by the greatest director of all time, imho.

😎

reply

I saw it for the first time ever 2 years ago, I think. I enjoyed it, rate it a 8.

So you never gave a 10/10 to any other movie?

Strange.

I must have seen over 5000 movies so 30 rating of 10/10 isn't much I think.

reply

Apparently I'm a tougher grader than you. I remember when I first saw 2001 like it was yesterday. I was stunned and mesmerized by this film. I came home and sat in the living room and just thought about it for about three hours. I've never felt quite like that after any other film.

You have certainly seen a lot of films. 5,000 films would be one a day for 13.69 years if my calculator is correct. Impressive.

😎

reply

2001 is boring and overrated.

reply

Sigh. No offense, but I really cannot comprehend that line of thinking.

😎

reply

Painfully dull, pretentious, self-indulgent

reply

Oh young Grasshopper.............you have made my heart sad.

😎

reply

We agree to disagree.

reply

Very sadly......yes. My heart is still sad.

😎

reply

Yeah I might be exagerating a bit..

i own 1400 movies so I will safely say that I saw at least twice that amount.

reply

Just messin' with you. You are a movie watchin' machine!

😎

reply

Yeah buddy!

reply

I aspire to your level of movie watching excellence.

😎

reply

I'm stunned by anyone's ability to list one hundred items of anything, to say nothing of ranking them.

reply

Yep, it's pretty impressive. I usually list only 10 or 20 of anything.

😎

reply

Haha!

I have fun doing this. It's a good time killer but like I said, it didn't take too long since I copy pasted from my Collection list on which I have 1523 movies listed AND rated.

reply

Pssssst! Don't reveal your secrets to the great unwashed masses.

😎

reply

I admire your attention to detail. I don't think I could actually sit down and rank 100 movies I have seen. I love some of your choices. If i had a top 100 Basketball Diaries would be close to the top, as would American History X and Fight Club.

Also love Bio-Dome. I have seen a few Polly Shore (Sp?) stand up shows and he is exactly like that in real life.
Without ranking, here is a few of my favorites.

What about Bob?
The Social Network
Zombieland
Princes Bride
Neverending Story

reply

Ahh Shiiit, I forgot Neverending story, which is a 9 for me! Dwam!

Social Network left me rather cold.

Btw, I keep a document of all the movies I own and I rate each one of them so I mainly copy pasted my list from there.

reply

Also on my list would be Gran Turino and who framed roger rabbit?

That's an awesome project. I kinda wished I rated and cataloged every movie I've seen.

If i did that now I would be biased. Movies I loved as a kid, movies I love now, movies I don't love know but still find them good.

reply

To be honest, when I read your post title I thought you were listing your Top 100 Ladies and Top 100 Men. 🤔

reply

Just re-read it and wow, I can see how that happened.

Changed it.

reply

You're not alone. I've seen other post titles that are a bit misleading. But maybe it's me and my twisted mind. I'm not above misunderstanding what a person meant.

Kudos for re-titling it.

reply

Im french so it'S harder for me to catch those.

reply

French? I didn't know that. I admire anyone who can converse in more than one language.

reply

french-canadien that is.

I also admire that.
