Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
I prefer Eve. I'm so much more about the anticipation than the reality.
shareI prefer Eve. I'm so much more about the anticipation than the reality.
shareI'm not a religious man,for me its the same thing,no offense.
shareI agree, plus the day after Christmas Day is sometimes a work day. Eve never has that problem!
shareChristmas Day is the day of eating delicious food the WHOLE DAY, so Christmas Day for me.
shareI am an Eve fan as well
shareI do love the tranquility of Christmas Eve.
shareAs per hownos:
“I do love the tranquility of Christmas Eve.”
Said succinctly and I agree....it’s almost magical. Fond memories of Christmas Eve’s past. When you reach my age most of the people you shared Christmas Eve with are no longer around.
My father would play organ/guitar/harmonica/accordion and my mother would sing Christmas songs on Christmas Eve. I didn't appreciate it at the time as a kid. Wish I could go back in time like Scrooge and experience it one more time.
shareSounds like good memories. My dad loved Christmas. We had a “so good smelling” live tree every year! Artificial ones weren’t available yet. He made snow for the tree with a paste using Ivory Snow and water. He diligently applied the paste to the effect of a tree in a snowy forrest. One Christmas stands out more than others....my four year old brother awoke to find 4 Lionel train sets circling the tree! Now I ask, how many kids have received 4 Lionel train sets on Christmas morning?
shareSame here. There's something special about a Christmas Eve stroll when there's very little traffic or people out. So peaceful.
shareSame here. Anticipation is the magic. 🎄🎄🎄
shareYou got it...the anticipation! The build up, the Christmas 🎄 get togethers, the tree so pretty with the gifts around it. But, the Nativity was the focal point. Getting together with a dear friend (now deceased), her little girls, my two for a few days of baking and merriment. I worked, but took a week as a vacation week, and the three of us would travel up state to their house, leaving my husband home! The five little girls had a blast shaping and decorating the cookies.
After Christmas the tree seemed to look sad...as if it knew its days were numbered (all in my imagination of course). There seemed to be a certain let down...the anticipation was gone....sigh
Twelfth Night! Petite Noel! The arrival of the Magi, and the founding of the gift-giving tradition.
Plus, a hell of a good Shakespearean play. It introduces the character of Fallstaff.
We used to do Christmas Eve, but it's Christmas Morning here in Kansas. BTW, Dorothy and Toto send their Christmas Greetings to all!
