On a closer look it's the good old "divide and conquer" that the Romans already knew about, but somehow 2000 years later Americans still haven't understood how it works.
Use the money of the rich and create TWO right wing parties, both massively corrupt, both bought and paid for, for the one and only shared goal they have, which is enriching the already rich ever further, then define one of the two parties as left.
Then create topics which do not effect the further enriching of the rich but will divide the population roughly 50/50, such as abortions, place the two parties on opposite sides of the topic and generate gigantic arguments about it.
People will vote for either of the two parties depending on their position on abortions, the two parties will alternate in government depending on voter turnout and nobody will notice that no matter which party wins, the enriching of the rich will keep going.
As a pretty neat side effect the actual real left never gets anywhere, because right wing voters won't vote for them anyway and left wing voters believe they are already voting left.
The left isn't all that much better, they just hide it better. Overall, left is still generally a better product but it has beem regressing in recent years. It's funny how politicians get people to vote for them then sell out to get rich from lobbyists or greed and then people complain about it, never gets old. They should require a politician to sign a pledge that forces them to resign if they don't keep their word or they run into some shameless scandal.
