We know people are evil enough to want to do it, but do you think it's possible for someone to manage 100+ deaths before they are killed by civilians shooting back? Right now the record is 60 and I feel someone is going to be stupid enough to attempt to break the record.
shareOne of the biggest deterrents is the fact that anyone can be armed anywhere except schools, banks etc. That's what prevents most shootings, the bastard criminals always think twice. There's always nut-cases but our ability to arm ourselves legally is paramount with preventing most of these atrocities.

The day before this shooting, Canada had a mass shooting that left 4 people dead. Sadly mass shootings are becoming more common here, but 22 dead is just unheard of in Canada.
shareI feel like over the years we’ve had at least four or five discussions like this on MovieChat. It’s now getting to the point of routine that there are people who’ve actually survived more than one mass shooting. It’s heartbreaking and ceaseless. There are so many cultural and mental health and leadership problems in the U.S. You’re much safer in Canada but it happens there as well. And I have lost all confidence in American leadership and law enforcement professionalism in that I am very sympathetic to people that want to buy weapons to protect themselves in this environment. My only thoughts on solutions: (1) vastly improved background checks renewed every two years to include scouring social media and completing acquaintance interviews (2) create a duty on family members and others in a position to see mental breakdown and require them to report it to authorities at the risk of going to jail for failing to do so
shareI have no problem with gun ownership, I just don't think it should be so easy to get one. In Canada you need a license and it's almost impossible to find somewhere to buy one. There are a few politicians who want to implement a gun renewal license that needs to be updated every 5 years.
shareEvery major mass shooting has a minimum of 10 kills and the most being 60 from the Las Vegas bump stock shooting massacre. The guy had the right idea but shot from too far. If someone were to mass shoot for 100+ they would need to do it at a concert with bump stocks and explosives at a much closer range (halve that distance).
shareI think they would need a place with a difficult escape route. A sports arena would be difficult to leave because a swarm of people trying to run up stairs would be easier for a psycho to shoot. Hopefully no one think of this, but I'm afraid that 100+ would be possible if someone had a death wish.
shareYes I do fear such a tragedy might occur. I only fear it could be from racial or religious implications. Whenever I walk into my catholic church I know there is a security camera watching the front door. I fear some left wing zealot will be indoctrinated so much that they think if they commit a mass shooting and the majority of the victims are white they are morally just in doing so.
