323, 094 jobs and only 6% went to white people?

In a country that is over 65% white the only way that the majority group can get only 6% of those jobs is by discriminating based on skin color. Blacks are only 13% of the population and if they only got 6% there'd be howls of racism. I think discrimination based on skin color when hiring is racist and illegal. Should be looked in to and heads should roll, and lawsuits filed. Looks to me that Bloomberg is celebrating and bragging about this.

The year after Black Lives Matter protests, the S&P 100 added more than 300,000 jobs — 94% went to people of color.

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission requires companies with 100 or more employees to report their workforce demographics every year. Bloomberg obtained 2020 and 2021 data for 88 S&P 100 companies and calculated overall US job growth at those firms.

In total, they increased their US workforces by 323,094 people in 2021, the first year after the Black Lives Matter protests — and the most recent year for which this data exists.

The overall job growth included 20,524 White workers. The other 302,570 jobs — or 94% of the headcount increase — went to people of color.

I'm currently unemployed and everytime I have filled out applications i list on the EEO form I've dealt with Anixety and depression. You have to start thinking of any advantage you can when applying for jobs and yes I have been on anti depressant meds. Since being a white male I know I'll always be last in line when it comes to jobs.

reply

Change the gender letter on your driver's license from M to F. The offers will start rolling in.

This is my plan if I ever get fired or laid off.

"i list on the EEO form I've dealt with Anixety and depression."

That's not an advantage. It can be the reason why you're currently unemployed. I suggest you don't mention it and accentuate your skills, education and experience which will BENEFIT YOUR POTENTIAL EMPLOYER. All they want to know is how you will benefit them!

"white male I know I'll always be last in line when it comes to jobs."
Nonsense! Don't buy into the politicized propaganda which is holding you back. All institutions and segments of society are run by white males. The linked article states that white males hold a disproportionate number of high paying positions and only began to hire POC to make up for decades of discrimination. Read the entire article.

Find your local free organization which helps with resumes, job interviews, completing applications, how to present yourself (clothes, body language, speaking) at a job interview in order to stand out from other candidates. They can give you positive feedback about any mistakes in which you're unaware. Don't forget civil service if you're good with tests. Good luck!

what he's getting at (rightly or wrongly) is that it's a disability.
He thiks he'll gain points for it.

like saying your wheelchair bound on the cv isnt something that directly benefits the employer , but it might earn them a "we are disabled friendly" certificate to pin on the wall

reply

Perhaps better to focus on government jobs (federal and local) since tests are waived and they're actively recruiting:

"Hiring people with disabilities into federal jobs is fast and easy. People with disabilities can be appointed to federal jobs non-competitively through a process called Schedule A."

A couple things. I don't think anyone blames people for taking advantage of opportunities available to them. The outrage is usually that some of these opportunities shouldn't exist, or when the people that have an advantage are still complaining that they are disadvantaged.

And to be clear race and gender are NOT a disability.

Wow real "Institutionalized Racism"!

Blatant, acceptable and celebrated institutional racism.

Systemic racism exists, it's just not the one that they are complaining about.

This is government funded. Looks like an employer can double their money if they don't hire a white male. Sounds like some systemic racism.

September 27, 2023, Victoria BC – The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) announced today that it has now issued $10M in financial incentives to small and medium-sized construction industry employers through its Apprenticeship Services project, with $4M more still available to applicants. The project provides employer participants with cash incentives to hire and register first-year apprentices in up to 39 Red Seal trades. This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy’s Apprenticeship Service initiative. It has become the most far-reaching construction trade apprenticeship drive ever undertaken in British Columbia.

The BCCA Apprenticeship Services project pays employers $5,000 for each first-year apprentice they register in any of up to 39 construction Red Seal trades. Continuing to improve diversity within BC’s construction industry remains a critical goal of this project. An additional $5,000 is issued if the apprentice self identifies as part of an equity deserving group, as part of an effort to redress underrepresentation in the trades.

“Canada needs more skilled trades workers. We need more women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous people, racialized Canadians and individuals from the 2SLGBTQI+ community to join the skilled trades. That’s why the Government of Canada’s support for employers to hire first-year apprentices is so critical. It’s helping more and more Canadians seize these exciting careers in the trades, and it’s making sure businesses have the skilled workers they need to thrive as we build an economy that works for everyone.”

Meh, don't care, as a white guy.

reply

About any form of racial discrimination based on skin color and race or just don't care if it's against white people?

Any really. Doesn't harm me personally.

You have been conditioned not to care and also not to question or criticize certain groups.

use your brain... come on you can do it...

also its not like the government had "job cards" to handout to give empploeyement and minrities got them all

LOL do you know how employement works???

reply

You forgot to mention:

"People of color ... are underrepresented at big US companies. In 2021, Hispanic, Asian and Black people made up a vast majority of the added workers — a trend that, analysts say, is necessary to overcome their historic underrepresentation.

"For a brief moment in 2020, much of corporate America united around a common goal: to address the stark racial imbalances in their workplaces.

Mass protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd led to a flurry of company promises, both specific and vague, to hire and promote more Black people and others from underrepresented groups.

White men tend to disproportionately hold the highest-paying roles, and hiring managers have long said that qualified candidates from other backgrounds for elite jobs were few and far between. The latest findings show that when under pressure to hire and promote qualified diverse talent, organizations find a way to do it.

But even such big one-time gains — and losses — represent a relatively small slice of the full picture. The share of executive, managerial and professional roles held by people of color increased by about 2 percentage points compared with 2020. That still leaves most companies in our dataset lopsided, with White people holding a disproportionate share of high-paying jobs at S&P 100 companies."

In summary, racist S&P 500 companies which refused to hire POC began to finally hire POC for mainly low-paying jobs. That's what you're crying about?

reply

Those racial imbalances exist because no one is going to hire George Floyd and people like him. Every race has low class people but not every race has people who deserve jobs. When 80% are degenerate scum with weed, alcohol, and speedball addictions, and have ZERO manners or self control, you're not going to find many of them working at important S&P companies unless you pull the kinda crap they are pulling now. Calling a company racist for that, when they are now filling their staff to fill a quota and boosting their ESG score, is fucking stupid and what's typical expected from a person such as yourself. So what, those companies just suddenly stopped being racist with these hires? Is that how it works according to your retard logic?

reply

And actually, there isn't really a discrepancy, at least purely off percentages of labor force.

U.S. Workforce Demographics:
White (including Hispanic): 77%
Black: 13%
Asian: 7%
Multiple Races: 2%
Other: 1%

https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/race-and-ethnicity/2021/home.htm#:~:text=By%20race%2C%20Whites%20made%20most,less%20than%20half%20a%20percent.

By race, Whites made most of the labor force (77 percent). Blacks and Asians constituted an additional 13 percent and 7 percent, respectively. American Indians and Alaska Natives made up 1 percent of the labor force, while Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders accounted for less than half a percent. People who were of Two or More Races made up 2 percent

U.S. Population Demographics:
White (including Hispanic): 78.6%
Black: 12.2%
Asian: 5.6%
Multiple Races: 2.8%
Other: 0.8%

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/visualizing-u-s-population-by-race/

Workforce demographics and population demographics line up very closely, well within margins of error.

I'd agree that there is an imbalance of wages if we were to categorize based on falsely perceived racial groupings (race doesn't exist in reality; we're all blends, every one of us, so it's really being broken down by the superficial categories of skin color).

But as you suggest this is largely, if not almost entirely, based on skillset, capability, willingness, etc. There's very little actual racism involved, if any at all. The problem is, in fact, produced by evolved cultural differences, with "race" as an organic byproduct.

Over 300K jobs were created which means 300k vacancies to be filled. Whites make up about 65% of the US population yet only filled 6% of those vacancies. That is racial discrimination. As far as I knew that is illegal and the general consensus that it is wrong and immoral, or it used to be.

With all the colored police chiefs, mayors and prosecutors. It would be statistically impossible for them to hold so many of these positions if it were not heavily planned.
