What you're talking about happens everywhere, not just Movie Chat. One of the reasons why I reregistered here is that I'm trying to document what's going on in various platforms when it comes to comments. What I'm realizing is that people owning and running these platforms thinks that free speech means that they should enable and protect as much hate speech, disinformation and shitposting as possible, as well as the worst types of people. So what they do is play favorites.
That's why your comments about Alex Jones were removed but someone was allowed to tell you to kill yourself. It's free speech if Alex Jones uses his podcast to terrorize people and spread lies. It's free speech if someone tells you to kill yourself. But if you dare say that Alex Jones needs to kill himself, you're "against" free speech, so you're seen as violating some sacred law.
I have seen this type of double standard moderation everywhere now. At Bing News, trolls are allowed to shitpost as much as they want. They're even allowed to call you an idiot, moron, etc. But as soon as you criticize them or even correct their misinformation, your posts get deleted. The situation got so bad over there that people at Bing News asked for a feature to remove their post histories, because they'd criticize a troll, the troll would come back with more shitposting, but the troll's comments would be left up and their posts deleted for TOS violation.
MC is no different. The mods here are operating under the idea that they're gatekeepers of free speech, which means allowing as much shitposting as possible without moderation or even criticism from others.
