Trump to blame for Afghanistan mess

He agreed to the release of terrorists before full withdrawal.

The blood is on his hands.

reply

The Afghan Taliban isn't a designated terrorist organization. Technically those prisoners were enemy combatants and we agreed to release them under the condition the Taliban wouldn't allow Al Qaeda to operate within Afghanistan. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, but that's besides the point. Do you seriously think they wouldn't have been released once we inevitably left anyways? At least we got something out of it.

reply

You got nothing. The terror attack occured.

reply

We got a signed, written promise that the Taliban won't allow Al Qaeda to operate in Afghanistan. The suicide attack at the airport was committed by ISIS. How the hell are those two things even remotely related?

reply

So you don't know how those two things were related. Duly noted...

reply

You know it's The Orange Fucker's fault.

Every fucking thing is his fault.

This has to be his fault, by ummm default.

You people are diseased fools.

LOL

reply

I pretty much agree with that, BUT, the bottom line really rests with George W. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc for the way they reacted to 9-11 and got us in to this mess and then dug deeper and deeper. If we were truly going to have a hope of affecting Afghanistan we should have resolved to stay there as long at it takes, and to be far more decisive and brutal, medieval so to speak, because there is not a hope in hell that that culture is going to change unless it is entirely smashed, and it started out pretty well smashed as a steady state.

This business of blaming Presidents for things has gone way too far. Presidents taking credit or blame for the economy is in general a farce. Military stuff is simply what the generals want to tell the President, same with intelligence operations, and even the FBI. Over the years the power and scope of the Presidency has weakened and I don't know about calling it the "deep state" but there is stuff going on in our government that we know nothing about, including the President, let alone we the people, have no idea.

reply

And Afghanistan wasn’t a huge terror training camp that needed invasion. A few drone strikes on suspected camps and good intelligence operatives could have kept it contained. But America wanted blood for 9/11.

Some says the zionists wanted America to reconfigure the Middle East but 20 years on we can see that all they did was create instability for civil wars to ensue.

reply

Actually a lot of change has happened across the Islamic World. Today a majority of Islamic countries are actually against the Taliban, and the creation of Iraq as a religious battlefield depleted and killed uncounted radical Islamists in ISIS and associated groups. And in Afghanistan they will be killing each other as well for years. The Islamic world has to change, and the US helped bring some of that about. We did not and should not expect miracles because this area has been radicalized for centuries.

By the way, it is not the Zionists. I remember being for some action against Afghanistan because of the human rights and abuses of women, and the dynamiting of the Bamiyan Buddhas. These are disgusting people imposing a disgusting life on millions of innocent people. Can't blame that on the Zionists.

This is as stupid as blaming a kindergarten teacher for a kid getting drunk and failing out his final semester in college.

This will go down as the worst foreign policy disaster in US history. It makes the bay of pigs look like a stubbed toe.

The entire cabinet along with Vegetable Joe need to be removed from office and brought up on charges of treason. There is zero justification for their actions that lead to one of the too terrorist groups in the world taking possession of 80 billion in US weapons.

The deaths and abandonment of over 100,000 Americans and our allies. And for what? What was gained by the grossly incompetent withdrawal?
