Let me start out by saying that I live in a predominantly pro-Trump / red state (I really need to move the hell out one day) and my wife and I were buying groceries the night before last...no toilet paper. NONE. All hand sanitizer? Gone. Canned goods? Slim pickings. People running around the store with carts stuffed with toilet paper, milk, cases of water, etc.

Some of them kept incessantly staring at my wife who surmised it was probably because she's Asian and these moron hillbillies probably look upon all Asians with disdain right now. Thing is--my wife isn't even Chinese and has been an American citizen for years. But, you can't fix stupid and the stupid just assume all Asians are COVID-19 generators, I guess.

As I've stated here before, I work with many Trumpers and they were all glued to the radio yesterday, listening to the coronavirus news, talking about it and what they're going to do to prepare/avoid infection.

So, I can't speak for how all pro-Trump states/areas are responding to this, but I can tell you my own first-hand account of what's at least going on in the pro-Trump area *I* live in.

So, what is it? Do the Trumpers trust their fearless leader or not?

You know what I think? I think the same thing I've thought since 2017: most Trumpers know what a crazy fuck he is. They just follow him for several reasons:

-Pride. Humans inherently have trouble admitting when they made a mistake and normally just double/triple down on their decision rather than learn/grow from it

-Partisanship. They want their party in play, even if it means selling their souls to a complete and utter buffoon.

-Stubbornness. This again ties back into pride. Trumpers won't want to admit their candidate is deeply flawed and definitely won't want to admit they elected the one guy who could sink us all. They will take their stubbornness and their pride to their graves first.

-The bottom line. This goes back to partisanship. They want republicans in play. They hate the libs. They would, as I keep saying, rather watch the country burn than turn the power back over to the democrats.

So, there you have it. They are loud in their defenses of Trump--aggressive and angry--but deep down...they're as scared shitless of him as the rest of us. Even the Trumpers aren't stupid enough to take this virus as lightly as Trump is suggesting. They'll never willingly admit it, of course, but they don't have to--their actions reveal that already. I saw FEAR on the faces of those Trumpers. Genuine FEAR.

And what a phenomenon it is--that the human condition of pride will still drive them to mark Trump's name in the voting booths this November. Even with all their panic over the virus. Their panic-buying. Their hoards of toilet paper. Their worried faces. At the end of the day on November 3...they will STILL vote for Donald Trump, the man they obviously distrust like the rest of us. Classic case of cutting off the nose to spite the face.

I've noticed they aren't so loud lately. It appears many of the Trumpers are taking a hiatus considering the state of the politics board. They like to troll but when its life and death then its time to take a vacation from it. Whether or not his people will vote for him remains to be seen. Chances are you are right and if COVID-19 is squared away by November their short-term memories will have no problem voting for their cult leader. It's a sad state of affairs how an idiot can be so well revered but I think it all goes back to how much they hated Obama.

No, it's not all about me but there are days (and for me even weeks or months) people don't post. I can only think of one poster who is here almost daily.

I didn't lie about anything.
There's nothing for the right to hide from.
I/we didn't start a virus. This virus thing is not Trump's fault as much as you'd like it to be. Or is it that you think we're embarrassed? That isn't it either. What specifically are you referring to?

We have minds of our own. We can think for ourselves. This idea that we are in some kind of a cult was thought up by CNN and lefty loonies.

I've noticed, yes. Doggie told me that KRL is gone. The other village idiots have also been somewhat...solemn as of late. That's unlike them. A lot of raw emotion in their posts, lately. Not the usual clown acts.

And yes, Trump is definitely crashing and burning HARD. This entire pandemic has exposed him to the entire world beyond the shadow of a doubt for the incompetent imbecile that he truly is.

A lot of Trumpers used to boast: "Unless there's a national emergency on election year and/or a stock market crash, Trump will be your president for 8 years, libs!".

Now that a national emergency is occurring (greatly contributed to by Donald's failure to take the situation seriously until it was too late) and the stock market has hit the bottom MULTIPLE times, his supporters have now adopted the "Hmph! So what? He'll still win, libs!" stance.

Their fun time is over and they know it.

You can tell the selfish people of human kind. They'll overstock and wouldn't even bother sharing one with you if you asked. These are the types of people I don't mind any virus for culling. All the movies you saw of zombies or post apocalypse horror and questioned, "how can these people be so dumb?", is mostly true when people get scared/frantic/etc. They learn nothing from movies and act on basic generic animal instinct.

Great link. Shows a bunch of overgrown children treating toilet paper like a Black Friday sale.

I still can't get over it...TOILET PAPER. Why in the HELL is that the most-bought item? Even the typical explanation of "Well, if people have to be quarantined for a month they'll have toilet paper on backup." doesn't really make much sense because...well...there's more than one way to wash your ass: shower, rewashable rag, baby wipes, etc.

And that's the funny part of it all: hand soaps were abundant on the shelves. Baby wipes and flushable toilet wipes were chock full on the shelves. Meat section full of beef, chicken and fish. Noodles and rice in plenty of supply. Bottled water and milk everywhere. Eggs untouched. Spam, corned beef and canned sausages untouched. Wouldn't all of THAT be more appropriate to "stock up" on? I mean--you can't eat toilet paper. LOL! You can find alternative ways of washing your ass a whole hell of a lot more easily than finding alternative ways of...you know...eating and drinking.

I think it's social media. They see: "People are buying toilet paper and hand sanitizer" on social media and rush out to mimic them.

My wife and I were happy, though, because we actually regularly buy Bath and Body works soaps, foam soaps and bar soaps. Always have. We also have always bought hand sanitizer, so we don't really need any stock of anything regardless because we...well...wash our fucking hands. Do these people who are buying up all the hand sanitizer and toilet paper clean themselves properly? They buy the hand sanitizer as if it's something they've never used before. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinue using hand sanitizer altogether once this stupid crisis is over.

It was a sight to behold: a bunch of idiots are running around with carts full of toilet paper all around us while we're stocking our cart with canned and dry food items.

I tell you what--I hope they enjoy dining on toilet paper.
