"Formal impeachment proceedings" are under way, according to House Judiciary Committee

Yesterday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said publicly for the first time that his committee has already begun the process of conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Donald T-rump. He expects that the committee will decide by the end of the year whether to refer articles of impeachment to the House floor.

“This is formal impeachment proceedings,” Nadler said in a CNN interview, and an MSNBC interview last night. “We are investigating all the evidence, gathering the evidence. And we will [at the] conclusion of this — hopefully by the end of the year — vote to vote articles of impeachment to the House floor. Or we won’t. That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that’s exactly the process we’re in right now.”

“The fact is, we are doing an investigation. We are investigating the facts, investigating the evidence,” Nadler added. “We are going into court to get witnesses all with a view toward deciding and recommending to the House whether to impeach the president.”

According to his timeline, the impeachment process will move ahead right at the start of the Democratic candidate primaries, as well as the Republican primaries. This will put T-rump in a rather awkward position, as he gears up for re-election with a possible vote for impeachment at the same time.

Sounds like they're using this as a 2020 political strategy.

I don't know how to feel about this after all that's happened--after the Mueller fiasco...

I don't know. I guess I just ran out of hope of Cheeto McTweeto losing the re-election. I wish he would. I HOPE he will. I just don't know if I believe he will.

Because of Mueller's testimony, the HJC was able to start impeachment proceedings - it wasn't a fiasco as far as they're concerned. Mueller gave them the evidence they needed to start the proceedings.

Unless they gain a majority in the Senate, it'd be all for naught and Trump would capitalize it. Stupid move!

reply

I disagree.

As explained on one of the cable shows - if this starts next year (2020), and the republican senate votes against it despite all the evidence to the contrary, then this will look bad for Senate republicans trying to get re-elected. It would be tough for them to convince constituents that their votes against it is for the 'good of the country' and not for the 'good of the republican party'. How will they convince the 'undecided voters' across the country that they are representing them and not the party? Especially if the evidence is there to impeach?

As for T-rump, I'm not sure how a candidate under impeachment can win over undecided voters, or the 'never T-rump' republicans and win re-election? What would there be to capitalize upon - the fact remains there was evidence of obstruction of justice; enough to impeach.

Easy. American voters (especially undecided voters who are all a bunch of fucking babies) are fucking stupid and won't care.

He will say anything to keep in office. That progressive girl is going to kick him out in the june primary

the funny thing is you actually believe it, you'll be saying the same in 2022 hahahaha remember susy, this isn't bolivia, you can't impeach a democratically elected president because he says meany weany things you don't like! every 2 weeks since january 2017 we've heard trump will be impeached, and nothing.

let me give you a reality check princess, if you wanna impeach trump, get a good candidate, good ideas, and not whackos who only promise free stuff and call everyone racist maybe then you can get trump out of the white house..

You are so totally unaware of what's actually going on.

the irony is people like you do more for trump than i ever could, and i voted for him during the republican and then general election. you turn people off doogie, you focus on garbage, on pipe dreams fantasies that will never ever play out. you dedicate your time to emotional blackmail, calling people "racist" and "neo-nazi" and it's good for the AOC, bernie, democratic communist type, but i have friends who were moderate democrats who changed their mind and voted for trump because they got sick of people like you. maybe you're a plant, maybe you're really a trump supporter who knows what you're doing. i dunno!

reply

There's so much in the real world you 'dunno'. So much...

reply

i'd like to personally thank you for changing the minds of maybe dozens, 100s! who knows of moderate democrats who did and will vote for trump. i think you're doing a great job. try and use "neo-nazi" more. we could get into the 1000s.....

reply

I don't think impeachment is necessary because Trump is showing obvious signs of dementia. He can barely complete simple sentences and it's just getting worse. Trump will not be able to handle the pressure of running a re-election campaign and he will lose in 2020.

Wow.

And Melania is no Nancy Reagan, where she's interested in saving her husband's presidency and doing all that she can to cover it up. Just the opposite - she wants him to fail, just like he wants her to fail.
