10 Broadway Songs You Won't Believe Were Cut From Movies

Off the top of my head, two musicals I can think of that went from Broadway to Hollywood with their scores virtually intact were GYPSY and MY FAIR LADY. Even Rodgers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA! and CAROUSEL lost a song or two along the way, though SOUTH PACIFIC survived intact, and even had a new song added ("My Girl Back Home," which was cut from the show early on, I believe).

With Birdie, a stage production that could bring as much joy as that movie can bring me anger. I would have thought the song bearing mention would have been "Baby, Talk to Me," considering Dick Van Dyke is in the film. Of course, that would have required the terrible script to focus more on its principals and less on dancing Russians. To call "An English Teacher" unexciting however is not to listen. Does the author not hear what the orchestra is doing, albeit toned down with sound mixing? The stage business usually matches the business of the orchestrations, and probably originally did knowing Gower Champion's style.
