"A prison doesn't just have one wall separating the criminals from the outside world" wow... I've never heard any one word it better! Honestly, part of what made the first Matrix so great was that Neo and the audience were led by mystery. I'm hoping MWAM is the answer to an even bigger mystery. Because if we spend most of the movie with Neo trying to figure out hes still in a simulation then I think we're not in for a great sequel (as much as I want us to be!).
I've also seen a number of ppl concerned that the amount of call backs in the Matrix 4 trailer to part one might be a sign that Lilly might not be as confident or that she might be leaning toward the creatively bankrupt side of things. I just want a movie thats closer to part one and less like the sequels (even tho the sequels had their good bits). And a MWAM element in the plot for part 4 would open this whole thing up for a potential SICK sequel. Cuz then... what does the REAL real world look like ya know?
I don't think it was a fluke... however Matrix 1 being so amazing and everything they've done since... Matrix 2, Matrix 3, Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, Jupiter Ascending having a much different tone is very similar to Game of Thrones. When D&D had GRRM's source material for Seasons 1-6 things were one way and then as soon as they started writing w/ no source material - GOT took on a much different vibe.
There was a woman who claimed the Wachowski's stole the Matrix concept from her (YouTube search: Mother of the Matrix) after the Wachowskis put out an article asking for people to submit comic book ideas to them. She's done a few interviews with her side of the story. Whether she's telling the truth or not- Matrix 2 and everything that follows def has a different tone than Matrix 1 (which is still my fav movie of all time); however Matrix 1 might be a fluke as much as GOT seasons 1-6 were a fluke ^_^
