I think you missed the mark completely. I thought it was great.
I liked Hacksaw Ridge a lot BTW, but I have no idea what your talking about " Doesn't know shit about War Movies" Any movie that happens to involve a War that the plot revolves around better have more to offer than just being a "War Movie". That would be lame. Are there certain tropes that have to be in a war movie?
I see how you think it is for hipsters. You don't put stock in or ponder your nightly dreams do you? The Whole Movie starting at the airplane scene " What's that off in the distance? Oh Look It's Coming this Way." ( which is Exactly what would happen in a dream!) Displays war as Nightmare. Literal nightmare that could wake you up in the middle of night.
It is not Style over substance. It's just a very different substance. That is real as concrete but you can't reach out and touch it.
Yes, Fishcakes, that is exactly what I meant. It's uncanny how well you know me, like we are Soul Mates.
yeah and Your Pretty clear thinking, Right? I bet you watch Fox! no pulling one over on you Except for ANY and EVERY LIE about EVERYTHING You don't agree with. Newsflash - STILL NO WMDS IN IRAQ!
Star Wars
Empire
Jedi or Rogue ( I'm Leaning Toward Rogue 3rd Jedi 4th)
Then I Guess Solo - A Star Wars Story it does the least Harm
I Don't care after that but the absolute Worst is a tie between Clones and Menace
As bad as this Trilogy is, it is better made than the prequel trilogy.
At Least They remembered to include Rick Moranis.
Kid - and then Kylo Ren shows up to help Rey
Abrams-But She took his space ship and his, what did you call it again kid? Bad person Locator. er I mean Sith Finder. so even if he could hitch a ride.....
kid- the enterprise was passing and Captain Kirk beamed him up and spock knew how to get there...
Kid- and Then the little mermaid fights the emperor
Abrams- The little Mermaid?
Kid- The Dog Chewed up Rey, just go with it,,, so Ariel is all like take that emperor!
i'd almost agree after Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back... Rogue One is 3rd. I would ask why you watch any of this crap at all if you don't really like the original trilogy that much? Because except for Rogue One It is a Neverending string of dissappointments
No Fishcakes I came up with it all by myself.
I actually have a Really inexpensive local theater near me that was showing it and I don't have netflix. so I had no choice but to watch it in one sitting, I bet it was better the way I watched it, but It Dragged and with the option to pause it Iit might have taken me over a week to watch it. It was old slow and tired.
No. I agree with your Barometer , but saddly no. it does not stand up to repeated viewings. it's all just so much fluff full of sound and Fury and signifying nothing. The logic of it all actually falls apart upon closer inspection at every turn. it is hideous film making.
i Know, he wrote a lot of it and I'm not a fan. I only really care about the 4 Gospels and even then I have " My Own Personal Jesus". I prefer Kahil Gibrans The Prophet. Historical accuracy doesn't really matter to me in the least. I don't Know anything about The Zio-Christians You Speak of.
And Reverend Gary Davis is a guitar playing Blues Singing preacher who died 50 years ago who played and sang his BLUES GOSPEL and spoke frequently of his Zion. I like what I hear from Reverand Gary, But I doubt it is Theologically educated , but He had a personal Faith I can get behind, he never asked me to buy anything Wholesale except a song.
I am the wrong person to have a FACTUAL based Theological Discussion with. I'm the right person to discuss a diamond balanced on a blade of grass with.
I disagree with your assessment. Yes, they completed their mission and yes it was a dangerous mission, that they might not return from, and didn't. Why do you insist on getting a happy ending every time? How do you not see the Virtue and Nobility in dying for the cause? You've seen STAR WARS right? They saved WORLDS from that weapon! There is no grey area here, They done good. Consequentially Good. They knew the risk, they paid with their ( Imaginary) lives. Why do you want to always have a happy ending?
That's not good story telling, and I hate to break it to you, but, life is going to break your heart.
OK Sorry I misread Your Post, Yes THE FORCE was Very Buddhist. But LUKE....
No, Before There was a Phantom Menace. I recognized The Christ Story in Star Wars. and Yes In The ONLY Good Trilogy of the 3 trilogies, the First one, They Played with a lot of Mythologize that mean a lot to a lot of people. But Luke as Jesus was the Dominant one. And Jesus overlaps Buddhism a lot.
Farisee is the proper spelling, as much as Pharisee feels so right, that it should be the proper spelling. But Paul/Saul wasn't what I was trying to discuss. I was trying to discuss this latest Star Wars Mis-fire. And what a mess it was even when you put it in the context of their half-assed intent.
I already went on at length about how Fucked up Quenton's Psyche is, so I will only say what I thought was the best part of the film - Dalton unable to hold back his tears when he received a compliment from an 8 year old.... I saw that scene prior, maybe in the trailer(?) but it is what made me think OK maybe I should give this a look.
Ha ha ha, You posted that a year ago and you were SO VERY CLOSE to the actual Plot! It wasn't Polanski with the flame thrower, otherwise BINGO!
Thanks. I just did that, but , I guess I still had too much to say. It wouldn't take the last post.
BTW, I couldn't find Your post from yesterday.
And, one last after thought. What Kind of Cognitive Dissonance is Quenton Causing? Going back to my earliest remarks about fighting injustice being in my DNA as an Irishman, born in America, approaching the end of " The Troubles" ( that's what we of Irish decent call the Fucked up unjust British rule " "The Troubles") I was very late to the game and already removed from Ireland on a different Continent , from Birth, from My Father's Birth(!?!), yet I honestly feel it is built into my DNA.
Re-writing history and getting revenge may feel cathartic for 2 hours, but what happens then? To Keep this a Cinematic Discussion- THE ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND is what happens! You are still carrying around the same baggage, You just don't know why or who's Baggage it is? There is Nothing mature or Healthy about Tarantino's Film making!
I will only give him props for the Hysterically funny tale of "how your father's watch made it back to be in your hand now." GO WASH YOUR HANDS QUICK! Which is a perfect metaphor for what Tarantino's films do, but you can't wash your brain.
