It's not a Scream rip off. It has more in common with Prom Night (1980) (four friends accidentally killing someone and keeping it between themselves; someone who knows stalking and threatening them until the prom, or in this case the fourth of July parade/celebration; a lengthy chase scene involving one of the girls involved etc). I Know What You Did Last Summer was written before Scream, too. It's also almost as important as Scream to the slasher movie revival during the late 90's. I think people sometimes forget it's one of the highest grossing slasher movies ever made. Adjusted for inflation it grossed 142 million domestically.
You tell em, Amanda. It could've used a little more atmosphere, but it's a pretty decent low budget slasher movie from the OO's.
Nah the Friday the 13th series is way more entertaining than A Bay of Blood.
Tyler, it's true all you could hear on the VHS were her high heels running around. The school dance looked so dark and drab too, like the school fell on hard times.
I saw it for the first time in the late 90's. It was on television one night, but it was during the prom scenes so I didn't see the whole thing. The next day I asked my mom (I was 9 or 10 at the time) if she could rent it for me when I was in school. She said no, but when I came home it was there. I ended up watching it like five times before it had to go back. It was the Virgin video vhs release I believe.
Jamie Lee Curtis was 21
Eddie Benton (Wendy) was 22
Michael Tough (Alex) was 17
Most of the others I'm not sure about, but they were probably in their early 20's. The clothing and hairstyles made some of them appear older. Jamie looked older than her age in Halloween as well.
