Filmbuff and Buorbonking have made very good points. He was probably the best choice. I can't really think of an actor in particular who might have been more appropriate or more believable. That probably should have been the title of my post - "Who can name an actor who might have been a better fit for Warner?" I noticed that too - the lady at first only wanted to leave the kid and just save her operative. That is the one flaw keeping her from hero status. But she seemed to transform. One thing we don't get to know is the motivation behind the assassination of the drug lord at the end. Hard to believe she would be involved in that kind of operation without a payday attached to it, but it leaves it open that it may have been purely retribution for the events in the movie. I thought the same as many of you that if they write it to where he survives they will have to explain how they dealt with the high level of biological pollution in that water, in addition to heavy "normal" first aid. I can't help thinking that his handler lady (Neysa?) would be instrumental in getting into the river and saving him if they do write that into the sequel. Her role is one of total bad-assity in the action - Ovi's survival on the bridge would basically have been impossible without her taking out the helicopter and then the sniper. And of course 8 months later she gets full-on retribution by coolly taking out the kingpin face to face. It's not often in a story that what should be a secondary character is allowed such a high caliber of prowess and ability. I thought she was very powerful and very likable. I loved it too. The weirdness and quirkiness and unlikelyness of some incidents that bothered posters in these other threads were some of the very things I found refreshing. The twisted situation played out in this movie resembled real life more than it resembled other movies. It's not that he held her responsible. He thought the only way to get back at Sadie's dad for molesting his (Spinks') daughter was to rape and kill Sadie and send him the tape. What I don't get is how he then hoped to escape prosecution. . . They both lived in New Jersey. They were simply going back home. It can be understood that Winona's character being abused by the men managed to find a sympathetic ear in the accountant who may have hated her employers for her own reasons or for their wrong practices. So they worked out their plan to sell them out to the CIA in exchange for their cut of the payoff. They each received 3 million dollars. Art the end of the movie they were simply returning home to New Jersey to begin their new lives as rich independent women. View all replies >
