It has a perfect place in the Star Wars universe. Remember the great fan-favorite character Boba Fett is the son of Jango Fett, a clone. He has the same capabilities as his father and then some. So why can't Rey have the same capabilities as the clone of the Emperor, especially one as powerful as him to begin with? She's still his granddaughter, just as Boba fett is still Jango's son.
Also if you have force ghosts in Star Wars, than you can have Jedi or Sith spiriits inhabiting physical bodies. Especially when you have a Sith lord such as Darth Sidious bragging about "unnatural abilities." Where's the problem? I say that anything goes in the Star Wars universe. After all it's not a universe awash in logic as it is. That's what makes it so unique. Let the logical fans have Star trek.
I think he just gave up arguing with a brick wall. I'm a big LOTR fan but you have to admit that Star Wars is on most of the top 100 lists whereas LOTR isn't. furiousstyles posted several links to top 100 lists that Star wars is on but LOTR isn't. You ignored his lists completely. I don't understand why you continue to say that Star Wars is a trash franchise, but movies are one of the things in life that most people will never completely agree on. By the way here's more:

The character of Rose was the most awful character in any Star Wars movie. She shouldn't have even been in TLJ to begin with; totally useless. That's why she was sidelined, not because she was Asian.
Thank you!!! I think that if you gender-swapped Luke and Rey (who both could be considered Mary Sues) the outcome would be different. Remember that Luke was piloting X Wings after like 2 hours of training; he managed to give Darth Vader a good lightsaber fight after only like a day of training with Yoda. He defeated Darth Vader after about 3 years of training. What many people are missing is that if you are descended from force-sensitive or force-capable people you are far more likely to acquire Jedi or Sith powers faster. On the other hand, Annakin had to start from a youth because he was created through George Lucas' midichlorians.
Rey doiesn't have to be a hard drinker like James Bond or a cad and scoundrel like Han Solo to be a relatable character. She's an innocent. She is likable to those around her because she is unassuming and humble. She's not prancing around bragging about her powers, she's just trying to make it through life scavenging for food. Her trials have already happened for the most part; she was left on a barren desert planet as a child in the care of a scoundrel. She's on a quest to find her lineage. What's so privileged about that life?
She's basically forced to quickly acquire and use any power that she can get, since she's being hunted by the likes of Kylo Ren. If there's anything responsible for her label of a "Mary Sue", it's not just some arbitrary feminist writing, it's the fact that if she doesn't use any kind of force power she can get she's toast. And if I remember, there's a hell of a lot of pain and suffering she goes though along the way. She's constantly hounded and tortured by Ren in TFA and trained hard by Luke in TLJ. There was no quick and easy path for her.
People who keep referring to Rey as a "Mary Sue" are missing the whole point of the Star Wars mythology. Rey's quick acquiring of force powers is no more amazing than Luke's, when he becomes a full Jedi capable of many force and mind powers after like 3 years of training. People quickly forget that any person who is descended from force-sensitive or -capable parents (or grandparents in Rey's case) are able to attain their powers over a shorter period of time, than say, Annakin (who obtains his through his miracle birth). And Rey is descended from the most powerful of all the Jedi or Sith, the Emperor. So why is that so hard to fathom?
Yes I love it when people say that a movie has so many plot holes, yet when you explain it to them they're like "oh yeah that makes sense." This movie made perfect sense (in the plot line anyway).
She "watched" these barbarians torture and kill a young boy in cold blood while hearing his screams of pain. What would you do? I would not only want them dead but in the worst way possible. I cheered as each one of them was picked off by Dan and Billy, and even more as Crow Daddy went flying through the windshield. They were evil; evil deserves to be eliminated no matter what.
All of you missed the whole point. I thought that the black woman was the actual hero of the movie.
I don't understand moviegoers at all anymore. How can this film be rated only a 5.4? Are people watching the same movies as I am? This movie was a nonstop roller coaster ride from the get-go. It was so much more imaginative than some of the other Predator films (or for that matter, a lot of other sci-fi-horror entries), with lots and lots of action and gore for Predator fans and sci-fi action film fans alike. I saw no problem with the story: Predator comes to earth with a super anti-predator suit with a super Predator hybrid chasing after him to try and recover said suit. Along the way this super predator kills people as if they were tear-apart rag dolls.
I loved the ex-military characters who helped the lead character destroy the predator hybrid and the super-intelligent kid who gets bullied turn out to be the quasi hero of the movie. How can you not laugh at the scenes such as the helmet firing back at the a-hole in the house and reducing it to rubble or the scene where the a-hole government agent gets his head blown off by the predator's shoulder weapon when he turns to face the other way. There were so many scenes like that where I found myself laughing out loud.
The action sequences reminded me a lot of the original Predator movie and the characters were similar. It's also great that at least the film wasn't a remake; it was a great sequel. I also loved Boyd Holbrook. I think he has the potential to be another action star. And Olivia Munn is a babe! I haven't had this much fun watching a movie in a while. All in all a very satisfying action sci-fi film. I'd give it a 7.5 rating.
Flame away ex-IMDB haters.
Pretty good predictions there Bill: Of the top 10 grossing films, domestically and internationally, 7 of them were Disney movies. You were also pretty close to the total grosses. every one of those 7 grossed over a billion dollars internationally, except for Dumbo, which made about $350 million. That's probably a record though. Disney is now the studio to beat.
Movie gun recoil (or lack of) has always been a bone of contention with me, but I gave up long ago looking for that much accuracy in movies anymore. Every time I see somebody shoot a powerful gun such as a shotgun or an old Western pistol and it barely moves in their hand or against their shoulder it makes me cringe myself, but what are you going to do? They can't have their precious actors getting hurt by gun recoil. That's Hollywood.
I agree completely. Every time I see a movie shot in Canada I'm enraged. Here's Hollywood and its hypocrite leftists bragging that they're for the working stiff and they actually will GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY in order to save money and keep American workers and economies from making money. A bigger group of a-holes has never existed.
You sound more like a racist than anyone. How old are you, like 12? Since when is it okay to base a character's casting on the color of their skin as you're doing? As it happens she's born of Indian descent anyway so that should be good enough for you, with your requirements that the character be of Asian descent. You're just a race-baiter just like half the people in Hollywood these days.
I've found that it's the same with people who don't like a particular movie and have to voice their hatred of it because they want to fit in with the "woke" crowd.
Harry Potter is not dead. The next installment, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," based on the play/screenplay has been announced as an upcoming film.
