POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERTS.......MD, I just saw the film in a movie theater. What a treat to see a film in a theater. Anyway, it is lacking that Guy Ritchie feel. What do the best Guy Ritchie films, i.e., "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch", "RocknRolla" and "The Gentlemen" all have in common? Pithy dialogue, strange and unique characters, great multiple story lines, and Humour! I spelled humor with an "U" to honor our British friends. This is a film that would be an okay Netflix film. I was expecting more. Perhaps the hint is the slew of writers:
Writing Credits
Nicolas Boukhrief ... (written by) and
Éric Besnard ... (written by)
Guy Ritchie ... (screenplay by) &
Marn Davies ... (screenplay by) and
Ivan Atkinson ... (screenplay by)
Often that is a warning. Anyway, I was back in a theater. The movie was not horrible. I had a good time.

"Power" is one of the best shows ever, by any measurement. Acting phenomenal, directing great and the production was wonderful. But, the writing was the best. Ms. Courtney Kemp is Aaron Sorkin good. Especially good was the final season. The writing was Shakeaspearian. Kudos to everyone.

First off, I like to say thank you to the OP for the link to the review. I think Kate Mara is doing a good job. I have seen three episodes so far. I am enjoying the show. Shane Harper playing a high school senior is miscast.
I want to do something crazy for a part - something I'd never even consider in real life.

You know, I did not notice that. But, now that you mention it, she does. Which is a compliment to both of them. I enjoyed the series. I thought it was well done on many levels. SPOILER ALERT I HAVE A QUESTION:
So, in the end, the detective planted evidence to be found later so Katz would take the fall for the shooting of Mike Tripp. If that was the case, what would have been Katz's motive for offing the neighbor?

You're going to love it! I hope there will another season. There is a lot of story lines to be mined. Enjoy the show. Also, post again when you have seen the whole series.

I disagree. Noah was taking the fall for both the loves of his life. Brendan Frasier's acting was extraordinary.
Also the incarcerated episodes showed Noah's grasp on reality slipping
But, we can agree that the show has run its course. I did enjoy the Rashomon type story telling.

I am sorry for the slow reply. One might say glacial reply. Life has had busier than usual lately. I did go back and watch the episodes you mentioned. And yeah, that is the beginning of the shark jumping. It has been one of the better series.

That was a very well thought out discourse. But, I believe the decibels utilized to broadcast the score was too much. And, the score itself was irritating. Surely, Anne was uncomfortable in her own skin and predicament. I understand your point that the score was unpleasant on purpose to project Anne's malaise on to the audience. I believe it could have been better and certainly toned down.

Queen Anne: We went for something dramatic. Do you like it?

What 43 year old male gives a 13 year old girl champagne and a quualude?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Polanski_sexual_abuse_case.
He did sexual acts that no 13 year old should experience. This is true no matter how precocious or promiscuous. And, I not buying the latter.
From the Guardian:On 1 February 1978, after 42 days in jail, Polanski fled the US while awaiting final sentencing, having pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. On these facts, everyone agrees. There are no hazy conspiracy theories – we know exactly what happened because Polanski admitted to it and later wrote about it in astonishing detail in his autobiography, Roman by Polanski, published six years after he left the US and went to France, where he still lives. There are some quibbles about who said what, but the generally agreed facts are as follows: in March 1977 Polanski, who was then 43, took a child, Samantha Gailey (now Geimer), who he knew was 13 years old, to Jack Nicholson’s house to take photos of her for a magazine. There, he gave her champagne and, according to her, quaaludes. He then had sex with her, drove her home and, the next day, was arrested.
kuku. I quote/paraphase from the article, "Who was then 43, took a child, who he knew was 13 years old."

It is not. I know that often in today's discourse people use hyperbole and saying the opposite of what they mean as a form of sarcasm. I understand your skepticism. But, have you seen the show? It is brilliant. I hope there will be another season. To me, looks like there will be. There is still a lot of story and character development to be had. IE The Prime Minister and perhaps, the real power behind the throne.

This was not a good movie. Yes it was way heavy handed and clumsy. Now, I enjoy most of the films made by Mr. S. Lee. But, this was rubbish. The story was incredible based on some true events. But the film itself was amateurish and odd. Especially coming from a filmmaker who has made, "Mo Better Blues," "Clockers," "25th Hour" and others. For a while I thought he was doing some kind of homage to the Blaxploitation of the early 70's. But those films were more of a higher quality than "BlacKkKlansman." And, they were fun. This is a bad film with assimilates stretched to make some points about today's situations. A great film maker way off course.

In terms of taste there is no real way to come to a consensus.
Obviously on this issue, it seems a consensus is difficult. Some agree with me, like your spouse, and some, like you, do not. On other matters of taste i believe there is often a consensus. Though, it will never be one hundred percent. Sgt. Peppers is a great album.

From my prior post, "The soundtrack did not propel or enhance the overall story telling, in my opinion. To my taste, it was obtrusive."
I get it, some story lines maybe uncomfortable and creepy. And as such, a soundtrack that is creepy would foreshadow and enhance those uncomfortable feelings. But, that might not be something one would listen to while having dinner.
In the case of this film, the sound track was bad, obtrusive and not in the background of the story but in the foreground. And, it was too loud. [ I did wonder if that was a result of the venue rather than the film.] I found it a pity because everything else about the film was stellar!

So, you know other people that are in my 'camp.' There are probably more people in 'your camp.' The music from the Baroque period is fine. This soundtrack was too loud and obtrusive. Rather than enhance the story telling, it was distracting. But, that is why the ice cream stores have 25 flavors.
You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.
