How many hours of Game of Thrones did you sit through to find out Jon Snow's parents? How many unresolved narrative threads did we think there were that were only years later clarified?
I'm not saying that is what is happening here. GOT is certainly it's own beast. But I do believe Johnson, like Martin is very aware of what his audience's expectations are and for thematic reasons refuses to meet those expectations.
Johnson may have mistakenly assumed his audience in a post-GOT, Trump-presidency era would more readily follow and forgive not meeting such formulaic requirements. I found it thematically interesting and exciting to explore why Johnson made the decisions he did rather than fixate on my preconceived notions of what this film needed to cover to fill in for TFA.
I hope they can pull off a good movie in spite of the turmoil.
Thematically it was much more important.
Fair enough criticism but these "they raped my childhood", worst than Phantom Menace and I'll never see another Star Wars film dramatics just make people look foolish.
I'm sure Eastwod and Speilberg would be very amused watching you try. Then they would fight over who gets to make the Oscar nominated movie of it with Streep as Kennedy.
Oh, the narcissism of fanboys.
Only a truly despicable person would call someone a name and put a smiley face at the end of a post announcing that. She is likely being bullied, terrorized and her life threatened for nothing more than acting in a film some sociopaths were disappointed in and you think it's cute. Are you really that jaded and removed from your own humanity?
You'll never amount to anything with that kind of an attitude.
I'm impressed by the amount of effort you are willing to put into writing a review for something you have no enthusiasm for. Were you paid or do you just feel better about yourself when you are name-calling and pretending it is all beneath you?
That was the problem with TLJ. Not enough humor. Do you ever think before you just spout out your right-wing talking points? That's a rhetorical question. I already know the answer.
If Star Wars can survive Phantom Menace, it will easily survive the Last Jedi. Every film since Return of the Jedi has had an army of disappointed bemoaning the "rape of their childhood". Every franchise has their narcissistic, entitled infants ready to crusade from behind their keyboards for their one true vision.
They might as well be screaming, "I am so arrested in my development, that the idea that someone can have an opinion different than mine is beyond me."
Definitely the last Star Wars movie. The fans have abandoned it. The DC universe, the Universal monster universe and Star Wars all in the same year. What if Harry Potter and the Black Panther movies are too PC for the deplorables. We're doomed. Only Trump can save us now.
Poor little regressive, deplorable has had his boy-hero-playing-with-his-weapon fantasies challenged after 40 years and he has the sads.
I like you. Here's to chapter IX! The rest can stay at home in their safe spaces and watch the OT for the one thousandth time.
40 years and you still want the same thing? Maybe Trump can Make Star Wars Great Again. After all, he won the "War on Christmas".
I bet you still want Westerns before Peckinpah, and Bond girls who only show up to have sex with Sean Connery.
I didn't get the film I wanted but I did get a film that surprised me into thinking about why I wanted the film I did not get and make me excited to see what is coming next. I haven't felt that way about a Star Wars movie in 37 years.
I think Leia and Rey's conversation that they felt his passing suggests something more than teleportation.
You just happen to be the only one posting right now. I'm not as invested in this as much as you are fantasizing. I'll be quiet now so you can get back to figuring out how TLJ turned out to be something other than what you wanted.
What's sad is you publicly nursing your disappointment and trying to play studio mogul from your home.
No one ever really leaves... It's like the Hotel California.
Well if you paid $10 and saw the "proof" with your "own eyes" that's all I really need. The lesson of Poe's character arc was clearly lost on you but that's not your fault. It was " such a piece of crap" with "a rushed production schedule, incoherent leadership" and political agendas that it flew right over your head like an X-wing on its way to blow up something.
