They got amazing television. Ozark, House of Cards, Haunting of Hill House, the MCU shows, Narcos, F is for Family, Bojack Horseman.
This movie was slop. Wasted potential.
Normal people have survived getting shot a dozen times, they've survived skull breaking trauma to the head, stabbings in the brain. Everything that Daredevil survives through is fully possible. So for a super-hero show about a ninja at peak physical condition, suspension of disbelief is doing fine.
This is not a problem with the show but your limited perception. Does it sound rude? Sure. Is it wrong? Nope. And it must be said every time a post like this comes up. It is possible, and it happens plenty because woman's tastes are confusing and nothing like what men tend to expect. If monetary success is on the table, face and muscles are secondary.
I also feel the need to mention that this is not my perception or how I see it. You're simply objectively incorrect.
Actually Zack was doing the exact opposite of avoiding logic. Crippling indecision accompanies the biological reaction of being frozen in fear.
Well I'm 30 now but I watched this in my twenties, so I'll add something. I think my generation is more into older films and the nostalgia of our parents generations when it comes to media art. I always see more old man type rants from say 23 - 30 year old guys about how everything nowadays sucks. I don't subscribe to the notion that older is better personally. I think the ratio of good to bad has always been depressingly low and we just don't remember the bad films when My Darling Clementine came out.
Half black people only look half black if the other half is white. Black always takes over. Did you know Tiger Woods has asian in him?
And his last name is Morales because she probably had him before they got married.
You're talking out your ass. The "usual Marvel hype" applies to the MCU fan nuts. People WANT to hate Sony Marvel after their dissapointments.
Nope. No conspiracies needed here. It's universally praised because it's a good movie. And that's all there is to it.
Hhhm, "likability." I always have to ask what is that? Wonder why the Sopranos, Seinfeld, The Godfather, Patton etc. never followed this "rule." I think I got it. Seems like a safe, padnering way to present characters in a way that doesn't make you think.
Shows of a higher standard don't care about pidgeon holing themselves that way and want to portray their characters for who they are, and they're all the more complex and real for it. Besides, I found each character brimming with empathy. They didn't need to be "likable" for the show to excel at it.
Not poor writing. In Italian families everyone is loosely referred to as either cousins or uncles. It's a gag the show gets real tongue in cheek with.
"Aren't we cousins or something."
"Ah it's so far removed now Tanto's a closer relative to you."
"Cousin" could mean a third in-law's second in-law's distant relative. Point is: never take that word seriously when an Italian says it.
Why must the frustrated outlier always pull these ridiculous theories out their arse? Why is it so difficult to just display a little maturity and just accept the world considers it good? Hah? Saw it. Loved every second of it. The nine rating is perfect if you ask me.
Accuracy is a non factor in accessing quality. Just the execution of its own goals. I know Kubrick's Shining is inaccurate to the book. And I don't care. Movie is still a well crafted work of art. If I read Shirley Jackson's book and its great, than it's another great story. This will still be the same show of the same quality.
Banner was afraid of turning into Hulk and fighting in a confined space because he would have been responsible for casualties. Not to say it's moral to wait for them to die, but it's the lesser of two evils than directly having the blood on your hands. Beside he probably made a fair assumption that Thor and Loki could handle it, not knowing how powerful Thanos was until it was too late.
Secondly we don't know how fast the situation escalated. Thanos might have come in the blink of an eye and wiped everyone out.
"Moody film-making?" Are you a child?
I honestly think she's the only decent thing in the trailer.
Wow, did sensitive cucks take over this site or what? Rocky, being rapey? Wow.
People are indecisive creatures. It's okay to push a weee bit, cause the 'yes' still came from her.
No. It didn't go through Odin's enchantment.
"Supes, after all, is FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET"
Correction. ADULT supes is faster than a speeding bullet. The film firmly established that Clark didn't know the peak of his power until Jor-El informed him later on.
"Infinity war on the other hand just felt like a very entertaining movie, but nonetheless more of the same in a bigger dosage."
But it isn't, it very precisely, isn't. It doesn't adhere to the old as time classic three act structure, has no main character, focuses on its villain as the star, a GOOD villain for once, and ends the film with the heroes not only losing but the villain murdering half the universe including the most bankable stars, and tops it off with a tone that would make the Netflix Marvel characters feel right at home. Every building block of its foundation is far out of left field when it comes to the MCU.
"Then compare that to The Dark Knight, or Logan, or The Punisher, or Blade and see how much of a stark contrast there is in quality. It's night and day. None of these films take themselves seriously. They aren't even action movies anymore, they're comedies."
Sure. Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Black Panther are very clearly better than all of those. The Punisher, assuming you're not talking about the MCU-Netflix one, is a dumb eighties action film made twenty years too late. It's funny you brought up a movie that's clearly comparable to Michael Bay movies in quality. Your warped perception of reality is really starting to fascinate me.
Secondly, you're penultimate argument is not only confusing, but ill informed. Your inital blunt of the complaint is that these movies feel the same, and you end off by saying they should all be the same in a different way. And are you saying that a film needs to be serious to be a quality product. Quality is one tone fits all? Even if it were true that all Marvel films are tone light comedies that never take themselves s2eriously, which is patently false anyways, are you really unironically saying they're bad simply because they're A and I want B? Take your time, look at light-hearted classics, and come back and look at that statement hard.
Goodness. You clearly watch these films through some ideological filter if you're really typing these words unironically. There's overblown, and than there's this fantasy. Where to start...
The MCU movies are like Transformers? Fascinating. Curious to ask why you think this. No really, I'm actually academically fascinated what's fostering this delusion. The explanation as to why these movies are universally praised is because they're good, and it's really that simple.
"Let's not delude ourselves..."
Excellent advice. Let's start at the beginning.
"You watch any Marvel MCU movie from Iron Man onward, and it's the exact same movie...."
Captain America - Earnest WW1 period piece on the world's first super-hero.
Incredible Hulk - Gritty and dour cat and mouse game between the military and a misunderstood monster.
Thor - Shakespearean styled tragedy on the scale of classic gods of myths about a man-child learning to grow up.
The Avengers - fun ensemble romp meets an alien invasion plot.
Iron Man 3 - Shane Black styled spy thriller about man losing his reliance on machines. Don't tell me the twist wasn't risky either.
Winter Soldier - Gritty political thriller about an underground Nazi uprising with kinetically directed and grounded action scenes.
Civil War - Super-hero political action drama about the proper use of power.
Black Panther - futuristic afro sci-fi about the benefits of altruism with a dose of racial commentary
No, they're not. All of these films have different themes, tones, character arcs, worlds, premises, visuals and action. Are there similar jokes and formulas? Sure. Comes with a shared universe franchise. But similar and identical do not equate.
Step deux coming soon...
