They were thought of as machines for illegal gambling, where you couldn't become skilled at controlling the game. Rather, it was a money eater.
"A game of skill" (not a game of chance).
As the games improved their design - likely largely left on the books as not a priority for New York to change/correct, while other States and locations came around.
Thanks...don't watch again
I liked it alot too - I was surprised.
I went back and watched the original in preparation about a month ago - and it was very dated...the makeup work of course still held up as did Doug Bradley's performance.
This new one - I think is very believable acting from the lead character (Riley)
Something about this one is staying with me - great use of computer and practical effects throughout.
I also liked the added lore around the box and its different stages/configurations and 'gifts'...The story was well laid out to see two different 'final' stages. that final scene, wow, I had to re-watch that. A transformation unlike any other committed to film.
This could be one of those movies I'll watch again and again - will see how it holds up on repeated viewings.
Mandatory watch...love their show. Disagreed with a lot of their take away...also it did seem like Rich Evans didn't entirely despise it -
Mike S definitely did...hah
Totally agree! i stayed away after bad word of mouth but finally caught it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it will be one of those movies that will develop a cult following (just like alot of 80's movies). I'd love to see a sequel. Alita was a bad mofo!
Thanks , great post...informative, insightful, and only slightly lessons my frustration of the attorney character...I rolled my eyes when she gave Celeste a hug at the end of the trial.
ok - good call back, but a little sketchy to refer to a friends attorney instead of one she may have known personally...although there are many different types of practice...still that attorney character was totally inept...
I'm guessing the 'valonqar' theory didn't really come true either.
re: "or it is because they are going to create the next Cersi out of Sansa and this is part of her growth toward becoming the evil queen. "
Hard to develop anything with just 2 episodes left -
agreed...people were tanking this episode on IMDB...but I thought it was great...excellent story telling and well executed direction and acting from the leads. That bad cop was a MOTHER #@$#$!
