There are some things in the OT that would piss people off had they been released today. Some of those things are that suddenly the emperor can shoot lightning, the Vader is the father twist that came seemingly from nowhere, that Leia happens to be Luke's sister. Also, everyone is complaining about a lack of Snoke backstory but the emperor also did not have any.
Even if Luke exceeded so many that came before him, in the Star Wars timeline it took Luke 4 years to go from being a nobody to becoming a Jedi. Rey only took a couple of days to get all of her powers. it has nothing to do with her being female or male(although some people are really pissed of about that).
In the end, its Star Wars, and it is not a franchise known from being very consistent from film to film in terms of powers and story elements.
Because pulling a broom from four inches away and suddenly learning mind control, blocking mind control, force pulling a lightsaber when another is trying to and defeating a trained warrior are two different levels.
What I was saying about Empire is that many people are complaining about stuff left unresolved in this movie, which is obvious because it is the second part in a trilogy. The fact that most of the things done by that characters in the film fail or make things worse, which also happened in Empire and the change in direction or tone compared to the first one.
Again, there are some things that I did not like about the movie, especially the Finn and Rose storyline, but besides that I think it is a good Star Wars film. Better than Force Awakens in my opinion but I get why people may disagree with some of the changes made in the movie but I do not think it was disappointing and definitely awful like some might say.
The main villain is Kylo, not Snoke and one of the main themes of the movie is letting go of the past. The series is moving forward and that means that the old characters need to be left behind at some point.
And about that Leia thing, I too was bothered by that because it was unnecessary but it did not spoil the whole movie for me.
I feel like most of the complaints and arguments that people have against this movie could be made for Empire Strikes Back
I think it has more to do with capacity than money. They can only make a certain number of replicants each year, whereas if they reproduced, they would multiply exponentially.
I was thinking the same as I was watching it. Of how they where speaking to each other even though they where in different years. But this movie was great, TLH not so much
