I don't really think she replaced anyone; once Zack left, they just started using a variety of interns.
I haven't watched the final episode yet (although I have had some suspicions for quite a few episodes) but totally agree about Eli - we did get a sign of the old Eli when he shot he old girlfriend but it's ridiculous how he suddenly crumbled at the first sign of danger :(
That's the thing, there are many occasions when board related things crop up and it seems to be forgotten that there are surgeons who are board members e.g. Meredith not knowing salaries - well surely you could just look it up; you don't like someone that has been brought in, have a vote and get them pushed out etc. etc. etc.
I agree with both of you.
To me, it kind of feels like they had this great story for introducing him and it didn't really come to anything, so now they are just trying to make him out to be an awkward/argumentative something and it's just landed up being a boring, why are you even there type scenario.
