I had a chance to hunt down that episode (thanks Netflix!) and I watched that scene again. I'm sure I'm not doing the best job since it's out of context for the episode as a whole, which itself was a three parter. That said...yeah, it seems really arbitrary. It felt like they wanted to have a big confrontation and have it resolve with a hero rescue by her friend (Millie?), but it was pretty contrived how they got there. She really shouldn't have dropped the gun--it seemed like something you would only do if the hand of the scriptwriter made you. For a moment I thought there was something more going on when I saw there was a whole box of grenades that would be detonated when he pulled the pin on the single grenade, but that didn't go anywhere really. Pieces of the characters were coming back to me, and I had a feeling that Millie was more take charge, action oriented (so it made sense for her to shoot the killer), but it still did feel weird for Susan to simply flop over like that. I'm realizing now that I never finished the second season, so I might need to pencil that in for this weekend. Thanks for reminding me of the show. :-) Shawshank! Not sarcastic at all, I'm afraid. I just haven't seen the show in a while and don't remember if she was one of the main women or a guest for that particular episode, so I didn't know if she had any background that might play into her decision. I apologize if that was offensive. I did enjoy the show--we had been to visit Bletchley about a year prior. Which is a great point. Many people who know we watched 24 have been saying, hey, you loved X, try Designated Survivor. But when I watched it, they didn't seem the same at all -- just had an actor in common. What would you compare it to? Forgive me, it's been about two years since I watched. Had Susan shot people before (was she ever in some kind of combat/police role where she had training)? I'm drawing a blank on the character or if she had any kind of background given. I can't speak for Swedish films exactly, but we've watched a number of television shows/miniseries and really enjoyed them. (Wallander, The Bridge, Graven) This is one of my husband's favorite films, and I really enjoyed it, too. Yes to Klute! I went to high school with a guy named Joe Krueger in the 80s. His dad's name was....Freddy. They had to get an unlisted number, lol. Yes! And that one I think had Catherine Disher who was also in Forever Kniht, another fun horror/fantasy show. That one came to mind, too, in terms of the debate and then they get pregnant and it's a very difficult situation. I was really struck by the ending where you realize that the dad could've gone to college on a music scholarship, but he's working some kind of fast food/ice cream, and he ends up waiting on his old school friends who are home from college. No memory of the woods or a lizard though. :-) Loved that show -- Robey was the redhead. My grad school roommate and I would watch the re-runs on Sci-Fi channel in the later 90s. In October they would have fun marathons for Halloween. How do we edit the thread to say "Solved" at the top? I tried to get into that one, but what I really want/need is all the discussion info already existing in the forums (which are being uploaded here). We watch some really obscure stuff, and there was no sign that individual threads were going to be created for those shows at imdb2.freeforums -- I'm very happy here and it was easy immediately to find what I needed, so I'll stick with it. Songcatcher with Janet McTeer? That's awesome! Thanks for posting that update--I will gladly let people know there's a great place to come for forums. (I hesitate to even call it a replacement now as I see how things are growing so positively.) He's done a really great job---I've found threads for obscure Swedish TV shows that I really thought were lost forever. I've been wondering if we could do more to let people know about moviechat. I thought about if it would be appropriate to go to other similar forums and post a link, or maybe that would be considered bad manners. I tried some other replacement sites that just weren't even close to what's going on here now. I'd like to know if anyone could measure IMDB traffic over several months to see if/how it's changed since the forums are gone. I do still go there for some things, but it's really the forums that I spent time on reading. Husband and I are divided on this, somewhat. He's more forgiving of plot gaps than I am. I still enjoyed it, even though it's far from perfect. It's sort of like pizza where they only got two of the toppings right. It's still pizza, and that's better than most everything else. But I completely understand those who felt they didn't get what they wanted. I was much more of an avid reader/lurker at the original forums, but moviechat has absolutely thrilled me with all the resurrected forums. We watch a ton of obscure foreign TV, so having those forums back to check theories, answers, whatever, is just huge. I didn't realize how much I used that kind of function until it got totally shut down a month ago. I may never post a ton, but I'll be here reading with you. Thank you so much, Jim (and crew?)!! I tried a bunch, but moviechat.org is the one that has the info I need, plus the old threads, and it's set up easily. I'm really enjoying it. We just finished the whole show on Netflix last night, and we really liked it a lot. My husband got turned around for a moment with the family relationships, so we had to draw a family tree that we kept pulling out as the twists continued, lol. Great show! Trapped which is Icelandic was broadcast in 2015 I think, and it's showing now on the Viceland network. The Lava Field (also Icelandic I think). I think you could possibly group Fortitude (on Amazon) with Nordic Noir for the setting although it veers toward X-Files at times. Maybe Wallander (I've only seen the Kenneth Branagh version).
