The only thing to add is that even the seasoned actors cannot manage to turn in good performances in this, which is perhaps due to the poor plot and lack of development for their characters. Is there anything in this story that hasn't been done 100 times, and better? It is also an odd mishmash of the story ideas it does poorly. And the Aurora reveal is so ridiculous! Meanwhile, someone has to have been stuffing the virtual voting box at IMDb. Nearly half of all votes for this slop are a 9. In fact, the median of the votes is 9, but at least due to weighting the overall rating it 5.9. That is far kinder than this movie deserves. Ha ha. Planet of the Apes doesn't count. Agreed. Otherwise it was a paint-by-numbers alien creature in space movie, and a poor one at that. Of course a twist ending is itself a very common thing these days, but it did have a resonance nothing much else did in this movie. We're talking about a movie, not real life people. When someone runs a red light in real life and gets taken out by a semi, that's just horrible, regardless of it being their mistake. When a movie character does something they absolutely should have known not to do based on who their character is, a lot of people may just think 'OMG you deserved it dumbass!' It can depend on the quality of the story and the acting how much empathy is inspired in such a case. Ash was the name of the synthetic, but otherwise you're correct. Dallas and Lambert were telling Ripley to break quarantine, but she wasn't going to. Of everyone on the crew, Ripley was easily the most level-headed.
