the guy says "it's raining like dogs and cats", when it should be "cats and dogs", and then he calls the elevator a "lift".
I prefer the miniseries even despite its somewhat dated and made-for-tv production values. Tim Curry just knocked it out of the park. His pennywise still creeps me out after all these years. The new pennywise wasn't really scary and there was too much CGI.
Tim Curry did a much better job. He was actually scary because he looked like a real clown who could turn scary on a dime. This new one wasn't scary at all. Also, there was too much CGI.
I lived in North Dakota, just north of fargo, for a couple of years, right before the show premiered. What I can definitely say is that the accent on the show is greatly exaggerated. I also feel like on the show, they write the characters so that the more foolish the character the thicker their accent is, as if the accent implies ignorance and simple-mindedness, which I don't appreciate. However, I do realize it's just a tv show.
Sometime over the past 15 years or so I definitely feel that TV has surpassed film as a storytelling medium.
Although not my favorite show, I think The Sopranos was the beginning of TV's renaissance. It really raised the bar for what TV could do. Since then, we've had many epic, gritty, and higher budgeted tv shows that have easily eclipsed the sum entertainment value of any given years worth of Oscar winners.
Dexter had been going downhill since season 5 at least, so pretty much the second half of the entire series upset me. Seinfeld was consistently funny until that last episode. So I can easily forgive one bad episode. Plus, Larry David made an entire season of Curb Your Enthusiasm focused on a Seinfeld re-union/finale, which more than makes up for it.
