I saw it this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. But then I'm a pretty generic cinemagoer.
Yes, he was! I was interested to see at the end of the film that his son is now President of Botswana. I wasn't aware of that.
Although I knew about the marriage I didn't know about the split between Seretse Khama and his uncle, so I learned something as well. I admire Ruth Williams; what an enormous leap into the dark she took - especially for an Englishwoman in the late 1940s! Very well acted by all concerned, and an excellent film.
Wonderful. Thank you so much. :)
If you feel that 'movies like this' (I'm not sure what kind of movie you mean) always bore you, then probably not, because you'll be biased against it in advance. I've just seen it, and I thought it was excellent. The acting was very good, and I found it a thoroughly compelling film that left me feeling enormous admiration for the three ladies whose stories it portrayed. You don't have to be particularly interested in the space race, but if you're interested in history, people and how they act and react, then I'd give it a go. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I agree. I had been composed until then, but I defy anyone to watch the scenes of that meeting dry-eyed. Excellent film. I thought Dev Patel did a superb job, and Sunny Pawar was absolutely breathtaking.
