I thought the acting was fantastic, but it was an otherwise very dull movie that focused more on the bland stuff than the interesting stuff. It became very repetitive during the 2nd act when there are about 3 or 4 scenes in a row where the wife comes home, sees Redmayne in a dress, and starts crying about their relationship. It continues with annoying repetition when Redmayne goes to several doctors and is told he's a loon over and over and over and over again. It was also really inaccurate to the real life story, so much so at times that it make me wonder why they even kept the original character names.
John Goodman not getting nominated for 10 Cloverfield Lane. The movie was decent, but Goodman was truly horrifying in that role. I was really hoping the attention he got in the beginning of the year would last til Oscar season, but it clearly didn't.
It's really a horror film with slight comedic moments sprinkled into the plot. The only humor comes from the black reactions to the quirky and disturbing white people. It's certainly a horror film first and foremost though.
I really hope Benman never shows up here. It was sooooo much fun posting a well thought topic and for him to reply "fck off" no matter what the topic was. This is a board for discussing film, and he did the least of it.
I remember a study in 2013 (I think) said 15 million out of the 65 million registered users used the message boards regularly. That's well over 1%, and no way did that number drop in 3 years.
If that's the case, don't bring them over here because the trolls will come with them. I've only posted here 3 times and each time I've had an actual response from a REAL person and had a nice discussion about our opinions on said film. I havent had that in years. In the last few years of IMDb, it's been just some troll alt saying "lol you should kill yourself" or "wrong, idiot". I almost forgot what it was like to have a good discussion about a film on here, and now that I remember how nice it is, I want to keep it that way.
