I'll never understand when people say that the shark is unconvincing. How much expression can a shark have? It seems like a pretty good approximation of what a 25+ foot great white shark would look like if it acted like this.
I also disagree about the pace, this movie flies by. In comparison, I rewatched Star Wars recently (1977) and I felt that that movie dragged on incredibly slowly (though I still love it). I don't know what it is about Jaws, but everything about it remains interesting for me from beginning to end.
Interesting thing to think about, Lethal Weapon 4 comes to mind. That was 1998 I believe. Another poster said something about True Lies, I think there may have been some CGI with the jet stunts near the end.
Muldoon would've known far more about their behavior than Ellie. Recall the beginning when Grant is asking Muldoon about them?
I'm not against progress at all. Every new thing is met with an element of fear and risk, imagine being the first guy to sail a ship past the horizon a thousand years ago. Thankfully that person took the risk.
Caution is a key element, especially when playing with releasing a living population into an ecosystem.
It absolutely could have benefits, it also could cause a huge fiasco.
Stories like Jurassic Park aren't around to showcase amazing dinosaur FX and set-pieces, that's just a bonus. Stories like these exist to remind us that humans can be incredibly stupid, no matter how smart we get. They also remind us to think before we act.
It's not necessarily a cloning but rather a splicing between mammoth and Asian Elephant. From what I hear, the ethical issues arise from the particular way they will birth the animal and what they plan to do with it. I read several articles on it and they were discussing letting a population of these animals out in North America and Eastern Asia for "environmental purposes". Whatever that means.
Will always be a classic.
That's the thing, I was about to say Twister and all the other usual films you'd think of... and then so many movies came to mind. Apollo 13, Tombstone, U-571, Edge of Tomorrow and so many more. He's been in so much!
What a fantastic guy the world of films lost yesterday. Game over.
Got his ass blown out of the little round window in the side.
