Agreed.
I enjoy both films, if I had to pick I would go with No Country For Old Men. Hell or High Water is a solid flick though.
Anton is a lot more subtle than the Joker is. There is no crazy laugh, no crazy getup. He is an insane calculated psychopath. What makes him so good is how callous he is. I love both villains but last thing I would call Anton is over the top.
Ah well she has talent. I think she will be a great catwoman.
She was in X-men First Class, Dope, Mad Max Fury Road as well as Big Little Lies.
I honestly think in the case of Spider-man they change things for the sake of change. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Most people aren't that attracted to black girls, even black guys. You rarely see a white guy, black girl, combo in real life. Ironically, my uncle married a black woman when I was a kid, and they got along great, so it does happen. But, not too often.

Sorry but I could not disagree more with this. Zoe Kravitz is stunning, talented actress and is athletic. Race is not essential to Catwoman's character. Her being beautiful, emotionally engaging, as well as athletic is what the role requires. Zoe fits all of these.
See this is a critique I guess I just do not understand. I get not enjoying him but the thing is your dislike is rooted in you not getting what you wanted. To me it translates to okay if it does not follow the original source it is by default bad. In all honesty there are only a a few comic book films that follow the source very closely. Sin City was one of the few comic book films that put the comic book on the screen. Thing is this rarely ever happens.
What you are saying does sound like it has a lot of potential. I knew Joker was based off of the man who laughs. Thing is I do not think that because this is not followed that it by default makes it bad.
You hate Ledger's Joker? I am curious why?

I am surprised too that NO Country gets so much recognition; it is a fine enough movie sure. But it is over the top, at parts directionless, doesn't have great flow and has several very pointless 'sub plots' that go nowhere. Also Anton being considered such an "iconic" movie villain I think is almost outrageous. He is so over the top there is zero believability to him and it is almost comical.

Maybe you could elaborate further on this? How is being over the top bad for a movie villain? Heath's Joker from 2008 is over the top but is also like Anton considered one of cinema's greatest villains. To me those two actually have a lot in common. Both are agents of chaos, they are also both an example of the negative flat character arc. It is interesting to me how the supporting Oscar win went to villains three consecutive years. 2007 was Javier Bardem for Anton, in 2008 it was for Heath Ledger's Joker and in 2009 Christoph Waltz for Hans Landa.
Here in my book are two good analysis of No Country For Old Men.

I honestly have never been a big Ben Affleck fan. I do not hate him or anything I just never felt he was a great actor. Now like I said a lot of the failings of Batman V Superman and Justice League's failing can't be placed on him. In his defense the script and direction for those films is atrocious. It wouldn't have mattered who you got to play Batman in those films, those films still would have been awful.
I hate reboots as much as the next guy, however in this case it had to be done. You can not build off of a bad foundation. BVS and Justice League were awful foundations.
I personally am optimistic about this movie. I love Matt Reeves as a director.
After the failings of Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice and Justice League there was no salvaging Ben Affleck's Batman. Obviously the blame can not be placed on him but wiping the slate clean is the best way to go. The reason Hugh Jackman could continue with the Wolverine role so long was because the foundation of him starting out was good. Ben Affleck literally had two terrible movies he began starring in. Also I am honestly sick of old Batman. We have gotten that since TDKR. I like that we are also movie away from the whole shared universe thing as well. I just want Batman mythos in my Batman film. The fact that we are getting a young prime Batman without doing his origin story is amazing in my book.
Look I get they were trying to cash in on the Avengers hype train but honestly Marvel did it well now that concept has lost it's novelty for me. I much prefer more personal stories that just deal with the character at hand, cramming in all other heroes while fun just takes away some of the narrative for me. Don't take this as I did not enjoy Endgame and infinity war I did I am just over the team up thing now. Personally I am excited about this film for a few reasons.
The director choice is great. Matt Reeves is a visual director that can tell a great engaging story. Watch his work on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the planet of the apes. The visuals on those films are breath taking, but more importantly he crafted an engaging story with those films. Second the casting is spot on in my book. No lame uninspired picks that feel like they are trying to bank off of a name.
The past two Alfreds have been old, at this point why not change it up? Zoe Kravitz is a talented actress and is not so uninspired. Megan Fox as Catwoman? Are we thinking with who will perform the role well and truly be engaging or who we think nothing beyond will look good in leather? Zoe Kravitz is beautiful but has some talent to back it up.
I agree with Bat-fatigue but here is why I am optimistic.
The director is solid. His work on the apes movies was great as well as his underrated remake Let me in.
No connected universe. I am being honest I enjoyed the Avengers, as well as Infinity War and Endgame. Honestly though I am tired of team up films. Marvel did that therefore I like more self contained personal stories. I am fine with a bat family, Robin, Batgirl etc but as far as other universes crossing into it no thanks I will pass. Justice League tried and yeah...
I am happy Catwoman is going to be in this from the start. What sucked about the other series we only ever got Catwoman one time. I liked both Michelle and Anne but we only got them one time in the series. Catwoman should be recurring, that gives a chance to flesh out a more dynamic and deep relationship between her and Bruce.
The visual aesthetic of tfa was actually pretty good. It did good at looking and feeling like Star Wars. Much like how Blade Runner 2049 did good at matching the aesthetic feel of the original Blade Runner.
Yep the director is the main selling point for me. A cast can be stacked but if the director is lackluster a great cast won't make a bit of difference. I didn't like DCEU's Batman either. I hated both bvs and justice league with a passion.
Looks like Reeves also has plenty of time to get it right. So the issue of a rushed production shouldn't be an issue.
So am I. I personally feel War for the Planet of the Apes was one of the best third entries in a trilogy ever. After that film I remember saying man he could do a great Batman movie. The way he handled Ceasar was so well done. Low and behold I got my wish. Look at how visually striking his films are as well. The cgi to his apes films were immaculate. I can't wait to see what he has in store for his version of Gotham. I bet we are in for an immersive noir Gotham city.
I agree dude. I am so glad they are giving Matt Reeves creative control. I just ask producers please let him have creative freedom do not meddle.
I am excited for this.
In all honesty the Donner films are a tough act to follow. It is why no Superman movie has come close. Superman 3, 4, Superman Returns,Man of Steel, Bvs, and Justice League lack the heart and passion that made Donner's films memorable.
This is one of my favorite films ever. I love other superhero films that have come after that were inspired by this. One thing I can always say though is this movie pioneered a lot. No Superman movie comes close to comparing to this classic.
It really is a shame it is not doing well. I liked this movie a lot.
