Petur's Story??

Who were the people who threw him out the boot of the car? And that too pretty close to his brother's house. It is implied that he owes money to people but some clarity would have been helpful.

It may be an error of translation, but in the version I watched, Maria speculates that it was people who owed Petur money. I agree it was quite mysterious, but it's not a film that ties up everything neatly.

I think she said that with irony. My guess is Petur is always broke, and blames it on people not paying him back. I'm guessing he sponged of them long enough, probably crashing on their couch, and they'd had enough and took him someplace they knew he'd be taken in.
