Why does Hollywood write retarded scripts?
The average mental US age must be 10?

Yup. I can't even bring myself to watching these movies.
sharebecause people keep paying to watch them.
I don't know what the answer is.... somehow FORCE everyone to stop supporting really poor films? There's a ton of people who just like flashy CGI action and don't care. That makes the most money, logic be damned.
This movie seemed "OK" in the sense as it was mildly entertaining, popcorn, summer movie action fluff. It was tolerable to me. But, I understand the recent but gradual dumbing down of even summer blockbusters.
Personally, I lean toward Nolan to bring SOME intelligence in, but there are tons of people bashing him also. his films aren't flawless, of course, but at least they engage the brain sometimes.
It's sad for all us smart people, but what are we going to do??
Hey, at least I didn't get the feeling that the people making the movie were insulting me personally.
sharea movie's a movie's a movie. nothing wrong with whatever anyone enjoys, but as an older person, I have noticed the gradual worsening of logic in writing. instead of thinking things through, coming up with answers that fit and PUSH the narrative, they have started doing a lot of wacky-land jumps... instead of relating to human people on Earth (us), it slides into comic cartoony "Wile E Coyote VS Road Runner" even though they are normal people. Super hero films are definitely pushing the boundry into crazy cartoon fakery. Wont point out the cartoony flaws in this film, as many others did already.
Where Nolan's billion making Batman films were mostly grounded in our reality of locations and technology, nearly all the rest of comic book films are grossly over the top, silly, unrelatable full out cartoons. That's just an example, but this is bleeding over into normal movies also where they have to go full out 1000% over the top to beat out the last hit film. at some point, it is diminished returns where exciting, edge of seat, movie magic action has become ho hum, yawner CGI cartoon boredom, and an illogical story wrapped around the action scenes. pulling special powers randomly out of their asses. F9: isn't just knowing the laws of gravity what makes it exciting to beat the laws of gravity? Except in a world where we don't, apparently, actually know the laws of gravity, or they don't seem to exist at all.
I enjoyed this film, not going to lie, watched it all the way through. Every film has plot holes and stupid in them, but the amount of stupid is growing in films... and we (self included) continue to support that, telling them "Hey, dumb it down some more! We have nothing else to watch out there, so we will keep funding you". but Nolan and Peele and such are working to keep some movies smart.
Oh wow, someone else whose a fan of gritty realism fantasy rather than comedic high fantasy. There are dozens of us, dozens i tell you!

Because after glorifying "common joe" stupidity and villyfying science in US media for over 70 years, only the media aimed at stupid people fill the seats.
