This opening Battle Royale match is the kind of comedy fest I would expect to see at a Royal Rumble pay per view. There are midget wrestlers, amputee wrestlers, obese wrestlers, transgender wrestlers, wrestlers entering the ring who aren't even in the match, a false finish, and a false elimination where someone turns their back and thinks they've won. I thought AEW was going to be different.
shareI agree - the opening Battle Royale was crap, but don't judge them on that. The rest of the show was somewhere between decent and incredible, especially the second half.
Cody Rhodes vs Dustin Rhodes - terrific match and the most real emotion (from the performers and crowd) seen in a long time.
Young Bucks vs Lucha Bros - incredible modern take on tag wrestling.
Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho - great main event.
I can't wait for All Out and the TV show on TNT.
