Why isn't Captain Marvel Brie Larson?

Hi stupid question why is Captain Marvel now being played by Lyshana Lynch? When it was Brie Larson in the Captain Marvel film?

Is it a multiverse thing?

Yes.

The Captain Marvel we saw here was from a different universe where Maria Rambeau took the mantle of Captain Marvel instead of Brie’s Carol Danvers. The Carol Danvers Captain Marvel we’ve seen in previous films, as portrayed by Brie, is still in the main MCU timeline (and other timelines, for that matter).

So yeah, Brie hasn’t gone anywhere. There’s more adventures with her as Captain Marvel coming (sorry not, obsessed detractors).

Maria Rambeau was never Captain Marvel in the comics. Monica Rambeau was, i don't know why didnt use her. Or better yet give us the real Captain Marvel (aka Mar-Vell). Not the Annette Bening one.
