A trailer for the MCU's new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just dropped, bringing with it a hint of Patrick Stewart's Professor X. But what does this mean for how Marvel/Disney will handle the X-Men? I dig into it here.
I feel like they can just do it like X-Men Evolution where Proffessor X has wiped peoples'minds of every incident involving mutants. Then something happens that makes him unable to do that anymore. I vehemently hate the idea that mutants have to be from an alternate universe.
I don’t see why. The movies and shows are building up to a huge event dealing with the Multiverse. Seems like a great time to introduce mutants. With mutants coming over from another universe, the populous would likely be extremely xenophobic and scared, which leads to a lot of anti-mutant bigotry.
Another theory is that the universe is rewritten to have mutants exist all along. Basically the reverse of House of M.
I don't love it but there needs to be some explanation as to why we haven’t seen or heard of an entire portion of Earth’s population until now.
The mind wipe thing only works if you assume millions of mutants around the globe agreed to it (including people like Sabertooth). Then there’s the problem of the multiple pieces of evidence of mutants across the decades including historical records, books, footage, photos, legal documents, governmental legislation, and the memories of people who have had their entire lives affected by mutants that would be hard to explain with a simple mind wipe. And did this mind wipe somehow effect the Asgardians? What about humans who live off world like Quill or Danvers? It’s a fine idea for a children’s cartoon but the movies need to be a step above that.
Well maybe they could just have it be that there hasn't been a major mutant incident in a long time because Magneto has been in prison for years along with the rest of the Brotherhood.
And in the meantime, the X-Men never fought in any of the multiple attacks on New York or the Earth? And what about the multiple villains who had nothing to do with Magneto or the Brotherhood like Apocalypse or Mr Sinister?
For story purposes the X-Men stay out of those fights for their safety. A lot of people tend to hate mutants so them staying out of it makes sense. Besides, considering all the people involved in the last 2 Avengers movies, they wouldn't have been that much help.
Or maybe they could have it be that they were in the Savage Land for safety reasons because someone blew up the mansion/school. Or heck, better yet just have Proffessor X forming the X-Men for the first time as the premise of the first X-Men movie. I am tired of ypur's and other peoples' insistance that tje X-Men have to be from another dimension. Heck, for the first several years of their existence they never crossed over with the Avengers very often. Not even in the first story with Thanos. You don't have to have them all be from another dimension. Also I want an X-Men reboot cause I don't like how they did all the characters in the Fox X-Men movies. Especially Rogue.
My guess is they don't in this movie. They will introduce the illuminati, we will see the members and they will tell what they are about but that's the extent of it. They would just be teasers for other movies. Think of it like Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. We already knew he was coming but they they gave him a little teaser but he was a cameo and we know he was chasing the stones and they left it at that.
