ACAB/Defund The Police?

Firstly, I have to preface this message by saying I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

However, considering how egregiously 'woke' it was at times, I'm surprised the film gave any sort of pathos/sympathy to the cop characters, including Captain Morales, George Stacey and Police Inspector Singh. I'm surprised the film's plot basically hinged on whether their lives would be saved, rather than simply adhering to the currently 'hip' message/mantra, that all cops are evil and deserve to die. 🤷‍♂️

You'd think maybe this supposed "mix messaging" would cause you to reassess your views. Maybe this movie isn't woke? Maybe a movie being "woke" isn't even really a thing that makes sense in reality, just in the collective mindscape of Fox News and alt-right internet grifters? Maybe it's just a movie without any real political messaging?

Aside from a two-second glance of a pro-trans flag that basically no one would've seen unless people pointed it out online, what about this movie was "woke"? And what does being pro-trans have to do with being anti-cop? Sure, they're both vaguely leftist in America, but that's not really a connection. Defund the police is very leftist and not a common opinion. Being against the genocides of transfolk is much more common across the spectrum, and it really had nothing to do with politics until Republicans needed something to replace abortion.

Is there anybody suggesting the “genocide” (what would that even be) of trans folk is a good thing?

reply

Yes... but is that really your main takeaway from my comment?

reply

It was the most ridiculous part that stood out.

reply

It was the only part you could make a pedantic argument against. I know, making an argument of substance can be very difficult! You'll get there one day.

reply

No nothing else was worthy of comment.
