Slow burn, terrifying ...

I've always been curious about Phillip Roth's writing, but I never had
the time or energy to but and sit down and read his books. I am not
a big fiction fan, preferring non-fiction. The Plot Against America starts
out kind of boring and feels a little lecturing. I was thinking of stopping
watching because it was moving a bit slow and it was hard to get into.
After a while though it picks up as you get to know the character and
are reminded of the history of America pre-WWII.

This series sucks you in and you almost don't realize it, then you are
really feeling what minorities would feel like. It is excellent writing and
points out some problems with America as it also rings true of what
could or seems like is going on today in the country.

Looking forward the rest of the series.

There are lots of colourful, unnuanced superhero series for you to watch.

Yes, the tension is unfolding slowly just as fascism insidiously amps up in the country. At first characters like Herman’s brother don’t see it or brush it off because their businesses are thriving. Waiting to see if the Rabbi and Evelyn ever realize that they are just pawns to Lindburgh and his inner circle.

I was surprised. This is well done, and believable. If we had had a President like Trump instead of FDR, or in this case Lindberg the US would be gone. It feels like we are threatened even now from inside.

The real war is on minorities and the poor and working class. And slavery and concentration camps are virtualized. No need to build expensive camps with guards and supplies ... just eject people from the economy that you don't like.

Americans take it for granted that democracy will always exist in the U.S.. It is slowly chipped away until it's gone similar to what happens in the series and in Trump's America now.

The attorney general Barr is loyal to Trump instead of the constitution and rule of law. He is trying to help release Trump's convicted friends from prison. The Republican senate wants to investigate political opponents of Trump. And Trump recently attacked peaceful protestors for a photo op which scared military leaders. Moderate Republic politicians have resigned en masse while others are too afraid to speak out against what is happening. Let's not forget Trump's dog whistles to groups like the KKK and neo-Nazis as well as mass shooters being inspired by him. Voter suppression can deliver another term. This show is a cautionary tale of how bad things can become and how frail democracy really is.

You're full of shit! It's the Democrats who are the DC swamp rats. Trump as an outsider is a threat to them. Look at all the rioting and lawlessness going on in Democrat run communities. It's an uprising by communist rebels supported by the Democrats.
