Fascism has become the usual boogeyman for modern left.

Meanwhile, in the real world, there was fascism in Germany and Italy, for some years and about a century ago, and that's very much it.

David Mamet is an interesting case in the politics/creativity debate. Once he became conservative he stopped making quality work. I think that bizarre and dreadful show about elite soldiers marked the turning point. Apparently his brain had shrunk, causing the change in his politics and artistic talent.
