Stephen King inspired?

Most IMDB reviews rate this around 3 or 4.

I'd bump it up a notch to 5 or 6, mostly on the strength of Theo Rossi who was one of the best things about Luke Cage. He doesn't do much here unfortunately, but for one scene where he's pleading for his life.

(Also, the scene where he punishes his trashy wife, telling her that '30 minutes should do it'... am I bad for thinking he meant something completely different than what it turns out to be?)

Some of the elements here give off a Stephen King vibe. The director's previous effort was based on a Stephen King work so it's possible he simply took assorted Stephen King-isms, and threw them in a blender to create his own work.

Might have worked better as a shorter episode in an anthology series as someone else suggested.
