Great movie with a bit underwhelming rushed end and that's it! **Spoliers**

To all those complaining about the movie's lack of depth and character development: you’re just being pretentious. The original Gladiator didn’t have or require that so-called "depth." It was a simple story where the grandeur, attention to detail, and acting were what truly mattered.

And Gladiator II successfully delivers on those fronts. One can't expect the same mature demeanor and personality of Maximus Decimus from his son. He was intentionally designed with a touch of "timidness," and that was fitting for the story. The action scenes were, of course, phenomenal! Acting performances were spot-on from everyone (except Connie Nielsen, who slightly missed the mark). The characterization of Emperor Caracalla and Geta was pitch-perfect.

That said, the motivation and actions of Macrinus at the end, felt rushed and contrived. His plan to kill Lucilla, then Caracalla, and take over as emperor could have easily defused the riots at the Colosseum. But instead, he kills Caracalla first, then Lucilla, and inexplicably flees straight to the armies, doing... nothing. There’s no attempt to convince Acasius' army that he’s the new emperor or to explain his actions. Macrinus' army hail Lucius at the end as if they were already aware that Hannos is the rightful prince of Rome. Why not support Hannos from the beginning (when they learned that he is Lucius)?

It’s somewhat explainable in a convoluted way, but it ultimately feels contrived and underwhelming.

Still, Gladiator II is a great entertainer with high repeat-watch value. The film stays true to its roots, delivering grandeur, stellar performances, and exhilarating action sequences.

8/10 easily!

The script is what holds this back for me. I liked it but the plot did feel like a first draft.

Box office performance has nothing to do with how good a movie is. Dumb fucking troll

too much of a rehash of the first one to make it 8/0. The first one had an incredible soundtrack and cinematography, this one had none of that. ridley has grown so lazy, with his multi cam setup making everything look cheap with bad lighting. Made no sense as a sequel. I would be generous with a 5.
