Entertaining Disaster Movie

For what it was, I enjoyed it. Good tension throughout and I was really pulling for everyone to make it which made the ending poignant.

Watched for pure entertainment value, so the science could have been completely wrong (which I'm sure annoys actual scientists), but wasn't something I focused on.

Still wondering why they didn't initially draw straws to see who would be euthanized. Of course, Michael should have volunteered since he wasn't part of the crew and inadvertently damaged the CDRA which caused the whole mess to begin with.

Food in Films: Lots of space pouch food but we never got to see any of it up close.

I think the element of human compassion made them try everything to give them all a chance to make it . . .and they died trying.

This presents a very real philosophical dilemma, is the ‘right’ thing to do the logical path or the humanistic path. Would you personally rather die trying to help someone or live because you sacrificed someone?

I think about that sometimes and personally I would rather die doing the compassionate thing than live with the knowledge that I participated in the execution of an innocent person only to die of any random thing or even live to be old and die for no purpose. It’s hard to think about.

Appreciate the thoughtful observation, Jinx.

In the case of this mission, there were three crew members with good working knowledge and one stowaway who was fully unprepared. The cold, logical path would have been to euthanize Michael, but the crew chose the more humanistic path. I think most of us would like to think we'd take that path too, but faced with the hard reality, I'm not sure.

It's a good movie that keeps you thinking afterward.

I'd have launched that dude out the hatch in the first five minutes, after checking his wallet to see if he had any cash on him.

Ha! If this had been made in a different era I can totally see someone like Lee Marvin doing that. You're outta here buddy!
