the guy going back to his childhood village and being forced to kill his childhood best friend, that is dumb, unoriginal, and soooo predictable; what are the actual odds that something like that would actually happen?

They could have come up with at least 100 different plots or story-lines better than this one.

The specifics with the friend are made up....but the main character being in the Roman army and then returning home to fight the Romans is a historical fact.

They forgot about his little brother who still supported the Romans

Historically he was in Rome at the time.
