so what happens to the daughter and granddaughter?

In my opinion, gran got infected with this weird black mold that was present everywhere in the house and acted like a parasite taking over her body, messing with her mind and transforming her eventually into a bizarre black creature. Her daughter has a black spot on her back like gran had on her chest, so she is probably infected too...The granddaughter also got lost in the house and had trouble remembering how to get out, so the parasite probably affected her brain as well.
