Enjoyable, but Several Flaws (Spoilers)

1) Ava's internal dialogue. If it wasn't limited to "Oh boy he's cute" and "I hope he kisses me" it might be interesting.
2) The EVIL. homicidal nuns. So, so, so stupid.
3) Shotgun Mary constantly threatening to shoot everyone in the face. Yeah, you can't actually shoot people for no valid reason.
4) The ArqTech story line with the stupid kid who talks to angels.

There is a lot of good stuff here. The sisterhood, some pretty well choreographed fight scenes, the likability of the lead actress.
Hopefully they will tighten things up for Season 2.

Oh god the internal dialogue. And half of the time it was completely unnecessary. Ava has a scared look on her face - (internal voice: "This is scary!").

But like you say it has good stuff and IMO potetntial. Cool idea and cool mythology. Jus lots of padding with teen drama. I actually skipped through much of the later episodes because I couldn't stand it, but I still wanted to see where the show was going.

The ending was very cool, so the second season *could* be good. Just ditch the internal dialogue and like you say, tigten it up.

I like it, it establishes her thought process and I thought it was fine. She is a dead teen after all so seeing these things after being wheelchair bound most of her life is like a dream come true to her and her emotional experiences.
