It really captures the tone and emotion of Ikiru
Funny that I didn't know this film was based on Ikiru, one of my favorite Japanese films, but one that was so deeply emotional for me that I could only watch it once. About 15 minutes in I recall telling myself that this was like a British version of that, which I hadn't seen in 30 years. Such a goof adaption, it dredged up all the emotions I recall feeling with the original!
