Was Ikaris a religious fanatic?

He sure believed in his "god". He was willing to kill his own family over it. But he seemed to eventually be struck down by love. This movie seemed rushed. There was a lot of content and probably would've been better as a series on Disney rather than a 2hr movie.

I'm a little surprised that a Marvel movie would make references to DC characters. Both Batman and Superman were both mentioned for some reason.

I thought the pacing was spot on, and I don't think it needed anything else. It would drag, in my opinion, if drawn out into a 6 hour plus TV show.

When Ikaris backed down when he had a chance to stop Sersi, I felt tears welling up in my eyes. The film put in the work to develop their stories, and did a wonderful job pulling the strings to give us enough about all ten protagonists, which is no easy feat. I feel like each Eternal had a share of the spotlight, and we had at least something to invest us into each of them. Some more than others, of course, but I don't feel anyone was shortchanged.

For a TV movie is was really bland but I managed to get 2 naps in which was good.

I thought the chubby guy was a major let down though, his English was very poor.

Icharus was the dude who built wings out of wax and flew too close the sun, wings melted.

Don't have a clue about this show.

The Eternals were around before the ancient Greeks, who incorporated some of them into their mythology.

His "God" was real so what's there to believe?

reply

He was a white male, so he was evil by nature according to modern Hollywood.

The question that remains is how that white male evilness is portrayed. Usually Hollywood portrays white males in three ways:
1. Violent and Stupid.
2. Pseudo-Nazi Sociopath.
3. Religious Fanatic.

(1) and (2) are the most frequent ones by far, so maybe that's why Disney decided to "innovate" and go the third way.

Are you ignoring that there were two more major characters who were white males in this movie and were presented in a positive light? In fact, one of those white dudes was a bad guy in the comics but they turned him into a good guy here.

Oh, and one of the villains was a girl.

Well, in this case the "god" is very much real, tangible and has literally created Ikaris for the mission. So not believing in it would be quite odd. Now, going against his desires on the other hand, i think it was badly explained in the movie, because the way it was explained, they should have allowed the earth to die. They were literally the bad guys by stopping it.
