Did anyone understand the significance of Blanc hitting the piano keys during the initial interviews with the family at the beginning? He hit them in response to certain answers the family gave. I feel like it meant something but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
shareIn the commentary track Rian Johnson says that initially he wanted Blanc to be sitting behind the couch and to tap it with his foot when he wanted the detective to ask certain questions, etc. However, that didn't really work out with the positioning of everyone, but there was a piano in the room so he had him strike a key on the piano instead.

OK so i paused the shit out of 0:24 and here is the exciting conclusion:
we now deduct that IF in fact the grouping on the highest keys goes -|||--||--|- then if can only be a piano with a keyboard containing 76-keys. taking that into consideration the finger is pressing down on the white key just to the left of the final G♭/F# key and indeed if the audio department does not lie (while editing the film) the note heard must absolutely be an 'F'
