Mediocre movie with great casting

I don't know about anyone else, but I thought I was going into a dark comedy, with biting dialogue and a cast of outrageous characters. At least that's what the trailers seemed to insinuate to me.

No.

It was a pretty straightforward who-done-it with no real memorable bits. Daniel Craig and Chris Evans were great, and Ana de Armas was good (though I never believed she wasn't a model pretending to be a caretaker in a big sweater). I chuckled a couple times, it had a sorta-good-but-kind-of-improbable twist, and the rest of the cast held their own. I actually expected a lot more eccentricity out of Shannon, Curtis, Johnson, and especially Toni Collette. Otherwise, why were they there? So much potential must have been left on the cutting room floor.

Perhaps it was just me, but I felt it was a movie that could have used a lot more humor, a lot more twists, or just more Hitchockian directing(different angles, use of shadows, eerie buildup). It seemed, well... generic.

everybody I know who watched it loved it.

Yes, it was good. Those who don't get it are just missing out on the fun. Too bad for them.
