Ok...[spoilers]
...that’s it, that’s how I found it; it was ok.
It was an interesting topic and obviously could have panned out in many ways, as well as being more in depth, however for what it was, the series was watchable and entertaining enough. I did not find it comedic, it was dark and therefore had a dark humour to it, but was mostly quite serious and atmospheric; the soundtrack helped and it was shot nicely.
The two main leads - husband and wife - were good; anything with Paul Rudd is always very watchable. It was good to see Rudd showing a more darker, desperate and depressive character too; not all quippy and smiley, as he so often is.
There were a few loop holes and niggles I noted throughout, for example:
It is always amusing to me that in these kinds of things, one partner never seems to go into the area or room in the house where the secret character hides; the clone, or the husband was always perfectly safe, hidden in the attic room. The clone could hear noises from the bedroom...but no one could ever hear noises from the attic? No dread of her catching either of them at any time.
The whole storyline of the FDA ‘arrest’/captivity and questioning seemed to try and force some quirky humour; just seemed out of kilter and frankly pushing the limits of reality.
The owner of the telecoms company Rudd’s characters were pitching to work for seemed to be of Jewish culture and yet he bred, handled, ate etc pig and pork products.
The biggest thing that troubles me was the ending - how can the wife says she is pregnant and not know which man the father is? As far as it was portrayed, she had only slept with the clone once and very recently - as in just in that past week - and now she finds she is definitely pregnant and it could be his?!
She also announces the pregnancy with such exuberance and certainty, which seems unwise because of her obvious history with false starts and miscarriage.
If they decide to carry on and make a sequel...well, it was left open ended for that for sure.
