Most of the problems that occurred to our character could have been avoided had the dad been honest with his daughter.
Also, no matter how well he could have drilled his daughter to behave like she was the neighbour's kid, the fact that they had a daughter of their own was a guarantee the plan would fail. He should has sought a childless couple.
Why did the dad come back from doing the groceries holding a pistol and bleeding? That made no sense at all. How hard can it be to steal when you can stop time?
Because he's a wanted man and can't been seen in public. So he probably slowed time to do his groceries without paying which would also explain where he arrived home with a shopping cart and not bags.
But a wanted man who thought he could pull off being a being a real estate mover to a federal agent... ?
There were holes, but I loved the ending.. in the end, screw the normies, lets kick gum and chew ass, and we're all outta ass.. wait.. chew gum and kick ass! Argh, I always get those mixed it... makes going to the news agent a very tricky situation..
8/10 from me.. I enjoyed this weekend interlude into something I knew zero about before hand. I think had I seen the trailer or read reviews first, I'd have given it a pass.
But yeah, there were holes.. just not gaping wounds that leave the movie dying a slow, meandering death, the likes of almost every other movie around... and for once, the humans didn't prevail. The protagonists did, despite them having a slight disregard for the monstrous manner with which humanity treats things..
Oh, have you met the new protagonist? Just remember to wash your hands!
The lesson the "innocent" little girl learns in the end, is that "We can do whatever we want, to anyone, anywhere, and if they try to stop us, we'll kill them." It was 100% a "supervillain origin story", because the girl becomes evil throughout.
I honestly didn't enjoy the direction they took it. Somewhat "novel", yes. But also not, considering that these days, ESPECIALLY with indie films, the trend is to be as bleak and cynical as possible. Mission accomplished.
