It's a sequel!

I was rather hoping for a reboot with a black lead just so people could see that it can be done properly.

But I guess they only do that to intellectual properties that were focused on the male demographic and then berate actual victims of misogyny by comparing unhappy consumers with actual villains who smack and torture people for simply being a woman.

No touching girls toys though, they are already perfect or something like that.

Sad Joss Whedon.

and you got this information from where exactly?

reply

Joss talks in his sleep.

I'm thrilled it's a continuation.I don't mind a black slayer but i would rather it be an original character with her own unique story and not a second hand rewrite of another character.

I am too. I feel it provides credibility to the mythology instead of assuming fans are stupid.

"Buffy" IS supposed to be 'blonde cheerleader...who is a vampire slayer' that was point of the initial movie/series. Ditzy blonde was the one least expected as a vampire slayer.

Series did introduce black slayers (Niki Wood, Kendra, the first). I really hope new series is about Niki Wood.

reply

or maybe they could say Robin Wood and Faith had a daughter who they named Buffy then she ironically becomes a Slayer herself. shrug.

I'd watch that.

reply

rather have a prequel about Niki Wood. Much more interesting....since she had been previously talked about.

reply

But that would mean the show is set in the 70s or 80s. I forget which one but either way I can't see that making a large crowd interested vs a modern day show.

With it being Robin Woods daughter we'd likely get flashbacks of Nikki and some stuff with Faith too if she's the mom which pretty much balances out enough for me.

reply

Sure it would

Happy Days was a BIG hit and it was set in 1950's/1960s even though show ran during 1970's/1980's. People mobbed Henry Winkler and he is still internationally famous to this day.

That 70's show was so successful in 1990's it stayed on when the daughters were switched out. Or when the son left the show. Nothing actually killed it....until they had to turn it 1980. And can't do 'that 70's show' in the 80's
.

reply

Yes, both of those shows were very successful ( I love that 70s show myself) but those were comedy sitcoms which really isn't the same as the kind of expectations that a fanbase like the Buffyverse expects.

The original show was modern times of the late 90s and I think most of us want that again. Not trying to stomp on your opinion or anything but just saying. Do you recall fans wanting a spinoff for the Nikki Wood character back then?

reply

But I am a fan of both Happy Days and Buffy/Angel. I myself have kinda a dryish sense of humor.

Actually I recal fans were upset about Kendra being killed off. I liked the flashbacks to the other slayers. Had wanted to see a series developed
